Official: Alex Song Joins Barcelona From Arsenal

Alex Song Will Be Fighting for his Place In Barcelona As He Joins On Transfer fee of 19 million euros ($23.45 million). The 24-year-old signed a five-year deal at the weekend after moving and says "I am coming to the best team in the world and I am delighted to be a Barcelona player," Song told a news conference. "I know I have joined a team of stars and I will have to fight for my place."It is a great challenge and I know I have a lot to learn. When the coach (Tito Vilanova) thinks I am ready that's when I'll play."It is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I thank Arsenal and (coach) Arsene Wenger for allowing me to be here."Barcelona sports director Andoni Zubizarreta said the club were attracted to Song by his versatility."We decided to sign a midfielder that could play as a centre back after the exit of Seydou Keita," he said. "Song was the first name on the list."He is a player who is good in the air, is physically powerful and tactically astute."Song said he was willing to play anywhere for a Barca team that has won 14 titles including three La Liga and two Champions League trophies in the last four seasons."I haven't come to take the position of (holding midfielder) Sergio Busquets," he explained. "I think he is the best in the world in that position."I have simply come to help and play my part. I will adapt to whatever role the boss wants."Song will be reunited with former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas who tweeted on Monday: "Welcome to Barcelona Songito. Wish you all the best mate.""Cesc is a good friend and has explained many things about Barca," Song added. "But he didn't need to, I knew already because I have seen them on television."The style of play is similar to Arsenal's. When you go to a new place you have to adapt and Cesc will help me."Barca's next game is at home to La Liga champions Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup first leg on Thursday.

Cricket U19 World-Cup: Pakistan U19 Team Loses To India U19 In Semis

Pakistan U19 Lost To their Rivals India U19 By 1 wicket In world-cup U19 Semi-final.The Indian under-19 cricketers haven't quite enjoyed the dominance over Pakistan as their senior team has in World Cup matches. In fact, the Indian colts went into their quarterfinal clash against Pakistan in Townsville (Australia) on Monday with the dubious record of having lost five of their last six World Cup matches. After a bruising, nerve-jangling battle, the Boys in Blue walked out of the ground celebrating, having sealed a one-wicket victory to make the semifinals of the World Cup.The 10th wicket partnership of 10 runs between Harmeet Singh and Sandeep Sharma proved crucial in the low-scoring encounter as the Indians struggled to get past Pakistan's modest total of 136. They will now take on New Zealand, who also clinched a thrilling last-ball win against West Indies in the other quarterfinal of the day.Having narrowly missed out on victories in their last two encounters against Pakistan in the Asia Cup last month - losing one by one run and ending up with a tie in the final - the Indians did not want another one going down to the wire.It did not look that way as the Indians chased with comfort and were just 17 runs shy of victory with five wickets in hand and 86 balls to spare. With Baba Aparajith (51) and in-form wicketkeeper Smit Patel at the crease, no one would have then thought that the Indian innings would go into the 48th over.Things swung in Pakistan's favour as their pace attack pushed India on the back foot, snaring four wickets for just seven runs in the next four overs. With Pakistan sensing victory and their bowlers breathing fire, Harmeet and Sandeep showed tremendous temperament to did in deep and take their team home.Later, skipper Unmukt Chand put the win on destiny. "The win came as a huge relief. It got too close for comfort. I was very nervous, I had goose bumps. This time I thought that luck had to go our way after the last two matches against Pakistan. I felt that we just couldn't lose this one," Unmukt told TOI from Townsville.India looked to have the upper hand right from Ball One of the match. After India lost the toss, paceman Sandeep Sharma struck big, dismissing Sami Aslam - who had scored centuries on both the Asia cup matches against India - and then Imam-ul-Haq in the first over of the innings. Skipper Babar Azam fought hard with a gritty half-century to prove that his decision to bat first was right, but Ravikant Singh's seam (3/43) tore apart the Pakistani batting and left them tottering at 98 for eight. Batting at No. 9, Ehsan Adil struck four lusty sixes to take the total to 136.As it often happens in low-scoring encounters, late cameos make a huge difference to the result of the game and Adil's 35 almost did that. "We knew one of the batsmen would get going. 15-20 runs can be very crucial but we never thought that it would get so tight for us in the end," Unmukt conceded.Things could have been even uglier for India had Aparajith and Vijay Zol not put up a crucial 66-run partnership for the fourth wicket after they came together when the scorecard read 8 for three. The Indians were rocked by the searing pace of Adil and Zia-ul-Haq.Unmukt had no hesitation in conceding that batting needed a lot of work. "Sandeep bowled well and Ravikant and Passi were equally good. Fielding was also top notch but our batting has to click. We need to work on our mental strength on these pitches which are good for pace bowling. These tracks are good to bat on once one gets off to a start. It's more about a mental thing than the pace and bounce in the pitches," the Indian skipper remarked. However, the players took their minds off serious talk and celebrated their hard-fought win. "For now the coach has told us not to think about the semifinal against New Zealand. We will start discussing from Tuesday," Unmukt said.India play for a spot in the final on Wednesday.

Pakistan U19 Score: 136 all out, 45.1 overs (Babar Azam 50, Ehsan Adil 35; Sandeep Sharma 3-24, Ravikant Singh 3-43)

India U19 Score:  137 for nine, 48 overs (Baba Aparajith 51, Vijay Zol 36; Zia-ul-Haq 3-23, Azizullah 3-30, Ehsan Adil 2-25).

Chelsea Will play their 1st home game against Reading season 2012-2013.Roberto di Matteo believes Eden Hazard’s impressive debut at Wigan on Sunday is just the beginning for the Belgian star.Hazard, a £32 million capture from Lille, grabbed two assists in the opening seven minutes in his side’s 2-0 win at the DW Stadium and Blues fans will get the chance to see the star in action tomorrow night when the west London club host Reading in the Premier League.Asked for his thoughts on Hazard’s debut, manager Di Matteo said: “He left his mark on the game.“In pre-season, he showed that kind of quality in training.“Now, in the Premier League, hopefully there’s more to come from him.”With fellow new signings Marko Marin sidelined by a hamstring injury and Brazilian Oscar having only arrived at Chelsea last week, di Matteo could name a largely unchanged side tomorrow evening.“It won’t be long for Marin, but it might not be before the international break,” di Matteo said.He added of Oscar: “We’re slowly looking to integrate him, like we did with the other new signings.“He’s not been long with us, so we need to give him the right time to get him used to his new team members and the team, and our tactics, and slowly put him into the team.”Of tonight’s team selection, the Italian, who delivered Chelsea’s first Champions League trophy last season, added: “Sometimes, you look at it and think: ‘Don’t change a winning team,’ but it doesn’t always work this way.“We’ll see for tomorrow. I haven’t made our final decision yet. I have to think about it.”Reading were held 1-1 by Stoke in their first match back in the Premier League and one man hoping for a much-improved performance from that match is Royals keeper Adam Federici. The Aussie keeper was left red face after he let a tame shot from Stoke City’s Michael Kightly slip through his hands.“I’m very hard on myself. I don’t make those mistakes in training let alone games so I’m a bit embarrassed. I’ve been dreaming about playing in the Premier League for a long time so I’m taking it hard,” he said. The Italian coach warns his Chelsea side against complacency when they meet Reading. Ramires Could be a possilble return as he recovers from illness and could be back says RDM.

Barclays Premier league 2012-2013: Everton upset Man Utd

Everton Fc Thrilled Man utd What was to be the first match for the both of the teams In BPL Had To be ended in a 1-0 Contest between these two But In that Case Everton Shinned As Marouane Fellaini was the best player on the pitch and topped that performance off with a 57th minute header from a Darron Gibson corner to allow Everton to become the first team in eight years to beat United on the opening weekend of the season.David Moyes’ men were the better side on the night, providing plenty in attack in the first half, before defending strongly when Sir Alex Ferguson’s charges tried in vain for a leveller. All the talk prior was about the Red Devils’ new signing Robin van Persie, who joined from Arsenal for £24million, but he started on the bench and only came on with just over 20 minutes remaining. He had little impact on the match, sending in a few corners, but was close to combining with fellow new boy Shinji Kagawa in the 79th minute only to see Toffees keeper Tim Howard equal to the task.Of the glovemen, United’s David De Gea was by far the busiest, making a number of quality saves to deny Fellaini from a tight angle in the 14th minute and the coming up with a low block to keep out Steven Pienaar prior to his reaction stop when Leon Osman fired on the turn from close range.Everton had a great chance to go ahead early in the second term when Osman’s volley rattled the underside of the crossbar but thankfully Fellaini, who won everything in the air, was able to fire home his header from the edge of the six-yard box prior to the hour-mark.United threw everything forward in the final 20 or so minutes but the defensive effort of Everton, led by the back four of Leighton Baines, Tony Hibbert, Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin, was brilliant as the perennial slow starters recorded maximum points in somewhat of a surprise result early in the season.
