Lampard: "England Needs To Improve"

Roy Hodgson's side experienced the highs and lows in their opening two fixtures with a 5-0 win in Moldova followed by a 1-1 home draw with Ukraine - a game they were on course to lose until Lampard struck from the spot.It was a reality check for promising youngsters like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tom Cleverley and highlighted the challenge facing England in the battle to reach Brazil in two years' time.Lampard said: ''There is a need to be patient. It won't always click straight away. It won't always click anyway. This is international football you are talking about and these are difficult games.''With young players, experienced players, it's about trying to find the right blend. We can get excited about the win in Moldova.''But you always have to keep your feet on the ground and understand it's a process of getting to where we want to be. Tuesday night was another night in that process.''Lampard's second spot-kick in successive matches salvaged a point against Ukraine who also provided England with a stern test during Euro 2012 before losing to a single goal. The Chelsea midfielder said: ''Ukraine are no mugs at all, they're a good team, they've got wingers who are particularly good on the ball, they have experience in the team.''It won't be an easy group, and Poland and Montenegro as well, will be teams that cause you problems. Poland and Montenegro have drawn already, and the group is pretty well balanced.''Poland in the next away game will be very tough.''Meanwhile Jermain Defoe is happy to operate as England's lone striker.Defoe was denied being on the scoresheet for the third successive game against Ukraine when his superb strike was ruled out for a push during the build-up.The Tottenham striker admits it can be a thankless task playing on his own in attack but is happy to carry out Hodgson's orders.Defoe said: ''It is sometimes hard work on your own upfront but it is important to be patient, keep running, and make sure your movement is good. That is what the manager said to me.''I said to the boys that Ukraine were getting tired towards the end of the game, that I'll keep running and making those runs and we'll get in.''You might not get as many touches as you would like in games.Sometimes when playing 4-4-2, you can drop in (behind) and it's not a problem because you've got another man up front.''But it is important to stay high and to be patient and clever with your movement. We created a lot of chances and maybe could have nicked it. I thought we were unlucky.''

Eden Hazard:" I am Here Not To Be A Star But Help Chelsea win Every Match"

Eden Hazard Has Said That I am A Team Man,made a big impact in his first three Premier League games with the Blues after arriving from Lille in the summer, providing four assists as well as winning two penalties and scoring a goal against Newcastle. The 21-year-old's antics have been crucial in helping Chelsea move top of the fledgling table ahead of this weekend's West London derby against QPR.The Belgium international insists he is not at the club to hog the spotlight and enjoys making openings for his colleagues."I love to set up my team-mates," he told the official Champions Matchday magazine."I am not here to be a star, to show off. I am here to play for the others, but if I have to try and clinch a game then I will."People will see me at Chelsea the way I am and judge me the way they want to."Hazard is looking forward to playing in the Champions League with holders Chelsea after getting a taste of the tournament with Lille."It's a competition that gets everyone dreaming," he added. "Every detail counts at this level."It was good experience (last season with Lille). I hope to do better in it."It will be complicated, because now Chelsea are the team to beat."The goal is to win the Champions League every year, but we know it is difficult to win it twice in a row."Hazard admits he is still adjusting to life in England following his summer move and says joining Chelsea has been a culture shock."It's totally different here," he said."With Lille we could have gone to the South of France and people wouldn't have recognised us. But at Chelsea, the players are at another level."Everything has changed for me the language, the country but it is up to me to adapt."

The Rivalry Between Anton And Terry Goes On As No Hand-shakes Between Them

Chelsea Defender and captain John Terry and QPR Defender Anton Ferdinand Seems Not to shake Hand as Senior officials from Chelsea and QPR are in talks to diffuse the growing tension surrounding Saturday's West London derby at Loftus Road.QPR defender Anton Ferdinand will meet with manager Mark Hughes on Thursday having indicated he will not shake John Terry's hand before the match. In July, the Chelsea captain was acquitted of racially abusing Ferdinand in last season's corresponding fixture.Terry is still facing a separate FA charge, which he denies.Ferdinand is also understood to be considering avoiding Ashley Cole in any pre-match line-up after the Chelsea defender testified as a character witness for Terry at the trial in July. While the Premier League is adamant the pre-match handshake should go ahead, senior figures have conceded it could be abandoned if one or both clubs request it in the interest of easing a highly charged situation. Neither club has contacted the Premier League asking to postpone the pre-match handshake yet, but both have spoken to the Metropolitan Police. In July Terry was cleared at Westminster Magistrates' Court of racially abusing Ferdinand during the Premier League game between the West London sides. It was alleged Terry had insulted Ferdinand, describing him as "black" and using extreme sexual swear words. But in reaching a not guilty verdict, chief magistrate Howard Riddle stated it was "possible that what was said was not intended as an insult but rather as a challenge to what he believed had been said to him".The prosecution had to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Terry had used the words in an insulting manner, which it could not.But the FA only has to prove its case "on the balance of probabilities".Fabio Capello resigned as England manager in February after Terry was stripped of the captaincy because of the allegations.Capello's successor Roy Hodgson included Terry in the squad that played at Euro 2012.
