Taarabt's Strike Sended Tottenham Losing from an Low Rated Team QPR as it was QPR biggest win Of season.QPR gave their Barclays Premier League survival hopes a huge boost with a hard-fought victory over Tottenham at Loftus Road.Gareth Bale had a header tipped over by Paddy Kenny before QPR took the lead, Adel Taarabt curling a free-kick into Brad Friedel's bottom right-hand corner with the US keeper making his 300th consecutive Premier League appearance.Spurs had chances, with Kenny saving well from Rafael van der Vaart and Bale again, and though Rangers had Taarabt sent off after his second bookable offence, they held on for the three points.

                            Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal and Chelsea cancelled each other in the Barclays Premier League as they played out a goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium.
With both clubs in the hunt for a top-four berth and a place in next season's UEFA Champions League it was a tight encounter, though Robin van Persie and Laurent Koscielny both hit the woodwork for Arsenal in the first half.
The Gunners always looked the likelier to take the three points, but Chelsea defended magnificently and Petr Cech made two more fine saves from Van Persie to help earn his side a draw.

                 Newcastle United 3-0 Stoke City

Newcastle United won their sixth successive fixture to boost their chances of finishing in the top four in the Barclays Premier League as they swept aside Stoke City.

Newcastle got off to a dream start, going 2-0 up with 14 minutes on the clock as Yohan Cabaye bundled in after Papiss Cisse's header hit the bar. The Senegal international then doubled the lead after converting Cabaye's stunning through ball.

Cisse had a goal disallowed for offside, but the outstanding Cabaye scored the third with a sumptuous curler from 22 yards as Alan Pardew's team carried on their wonderful run.

                          Aston Villa 0-0 Sunderland

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill returned to his former club Aston Villa as the teams played out a goalless draw at Villa Park.

The first half was a tight, tense affair, but Sunderland improved after the break and, after Nicklas Bendtner had a shot cleared off the line, the Danish striker had a goal ruled out for offside.

Villa struggled to create many good chances and James McClean had a header saved by Shay Given before the Black Cats had Craig Gardner sent off late on.

        Blackburn Rovers 2-0 Norwich City

Blackburn gave their survival hopes a massive boost at the bottom of the League by scoring in both halves to beat Norwich at Ewood Park.

Norwich shaded the first half but Rovers created the clearer chances and, after Yakubu's overhead kick hit a post, they took the lead when Mauro Formica kept his cool inside the area to fire into the net.

David Hoilett doubled the lead in the second half with a screaming finish into the far corner from 25 yards, and though Norwich created a few opportunities, they could not get back into the match.

           Bolton Wanderers 1-1 Swansea City

Bolton were frustrated in their bid to climb out of the Barclays Premier League's relegation zone as they were held by Swansea at the Reebok Stadium.

Swansea took an early lead when Scott Sinclair cut in from the left and curled a stunning shot into the top corner, but Bolton soon levelled when Chris Eagles side-footed in Martin Petrov's left-wing cross.

The Swans looked the better side in the second half and Danny Graham hit the bar, though Bolton could have won it late on when Eagles drilled narrowly wide from 18 yards.

                             Fulham 2-1 Wigan Athletic

Wigan's fine recent run was brought to an abrupt half at Craven Cottage as Fulham fought back from a goal behind to earn three points.

The first half was a tight affair, with Damien Duff curling off target for the hosts and Jordi Gomez forcing a decent low save from Mark Schwarzer as Wigan pressed forward.

Wigan went ahead when Emmerson Boyce fired in from 20 yards but Fulham equalised almost immediately, Pavel Pogrebnyak smashing past Ali Al Habsi, before Philippe Senderos nodded in an 89th-minute winner.

 Manchester United 4-4 Everton

Battling Everton came back strongly to deny Manchester United victory in a stunning Barclays Premier League match at Old Trafford.

The draw means United are three points ahead of closest title rivals Manchester City - who won their Sunday match at Wolves 2-0. The two teams play at City's Etihad Stadium on April 30th.

After a quiet opening, Nikica Jelavic produced a clever header from a tight angle to put the visitors in front, but Wayne Rooney nodded in Luis Nani's cross to level before half-time.

United seemingly took control as Danny Welbeck thumped in a superb second, then Welbeck turned provider for Nani to neatly chip in.

Everton's Marouane Fellaini rifled in a great finish to make it 3-2, but Rooney's second - his 26th Barclays Premier League goal of the season, and one which put him fourth on United's all-time goalscorer list - seemed to have swung things decisively in United's favour.

Yet there was time for a final twist in the final 10 minutes as Jelavic hammered in his second, then Steven Pienaar pounced to slot home to make it 4-4.

                        Wolves 0-2 Manchester City

Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri scored as Manchester City boosted their Barclays Premier League title charge with a victory which condemned Wolverhampton Wanderers to relegation.

Aguero finished from a brilliant through-ball by Gael Clichy to give Roberto Mancini's men the lead in the first-half.

Wolves belied their bottom position with a battling, organised display, but when Nasri kept his composure to finish following Carlos Tevez's pass, their challenge was over.

City are now three points behind leaders Manchester United, and host their neighbours at the Etihad Stadium on Monday, April 30th in a match which is likely to decide who will be Barclays Premier League champions for 2011/12.

      Liverpool 0-1 West Bromwich Albion

Peter Odemwingie scored the only goal as West Bromwich Albion won at Liverpool for the first time since 1967 - but the Reds will rue a host of missed chances.
Glen Johnson's slip let in Odemwingie on 75 minutes, and the forward fired past Jose Reina to score.
But Kenny Dalglish's men saw a bounty of opportunities go begging, with Jordan Henderson hitting the underside of the crossbar and Dirk Kuyt seeing a low shot strike the inside of the post.
The home side had 28 shots in total, but slumped to a third home defeat in the Barclays Premier League this seasons against a Baggies' side which moves into the top 10.

Barca boss Pep Guardiola has cranked up the pressure in the build-up to Saturday night's clash by maintaining that the title is Madrid's to lose rather than for his side to win, while his opposite number Mourinho has been virtually muted, insisting his opinions will only serve to earn him further touchline bans following various clashes with officials.

The build-up to the Nou Camp clash has inevitably been dominated by the game's two biggest names, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, with the duo scoring a record-breaking 41 goals in La Liga already, eclipsing the 40-goal record set by Ronaldo last season.

Messi has scored a hefty percentage of his at home with a remarkable 28 goals at the Nou Camp, while Ronaldo has been almost as prolific away from the Bernabeu, netting 20 times on the road.

However, the battle of Spain's top two has rarely been two-man show, with the pair netting just six of the 20 goals in the duos five meeting this season.

The clay-court stalwart Nadal won an Open Era-record seventh consecutive title here last year and is now an incredible 41-1 lifetime in Monte Carlo. He topped David Ferrer in last year's all-Spanish finale.

Nadal and Roger Federer are the all-time leaders with 19 Masters titles apiece.

The former No. 1 Nadal is seeking his first title of any kind since capturing last year's French Open.

The third-seeded Murray, meanwhile, was leading Julien Benneteau 6-5 in the first set on Day 5 when the Frenchman retired from their bout not long after taking a tumble and injuring his right ankle and right wrist.

Murray's quarterfinal opponent on Friday will be sixth-seeded Czech slugger Tomas Berdych, who had to overcome 12th-seeded rising Japanese Kei Nishikori 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Fourth-seeded French favorite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga topped 13th-seeded 2010 Monte Carlo runner-up Fernando Verdasco 7-6 (9-7), 6-2, while ninth-seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon upended seventh-seeded Serb Janko Tipsarevic 6-0, 4-6, 6-1. Tsonga and Simon, who were part of the French team that lost to the United States in a Davis Cup quarterfinal here at the Monte Carlo Country Club two weeks ago, will tangle on Friday.

Chelsea Wins Against Barcelona By 1-0

Didier Drogba's Left footed shot assisted by Ramires , secured a comfortable win for Chelsea But surprisingly Barcelona Dominated the game. Against the reigning European champions it was one of those Chelsea performances that ends with the forward players heaping praise on the defenders and those at the back equally complementary about the strikers.

The Blues executed a game plan against Barcelona to the degree that we have a goal advantage and a home clean sheet at the midway point in a finely balanced tie. It was one of those nights when it was all-hands-on-deck when it came to blocking the Spaniards' way to our goal, as acknowledged by Juan Mata after the game.

'The defenders worked very well, and all the team were defending, not only the back four,' he said.

'We had to defend, because Barcelona kept a lot of the ball, and take advantage of our chances to score - and we did it. We achieved a good result for us. We had two or three chances to score and 1-0 is a good result.'

'We had to be very patient, Barcelona had an awful lot of possession early on and I didn't touch it for the first 10 to 15 minutes,' confirmed John Terry.

'Our midfielders had to work really hard and Didier up front on his own as well. It was a great, tireless performance from everyone.

'Didier is incredible,' added the captain. 'That is what he is all about - these big occasions - and you saw that on Sunday against Spurs as well.

'He put fear into the Spurs back four and he did that again last night. He is up there on his own against some of the best defenders in the world and it can be frustrating for him at times, but he holds the ball up so well and that allows our midfielders to get forward.'

Drogba's left-foot finish for the only goal just before half-time came from a Ramires cross off his weaker foot too. As in Napoli tie, the Brazilian was used on the left rather than his accustomed right side and earned praise from Mata, a player more usually on the left flank.

'He is a very fast player and very important for us in the counter attack, and against Barcelona he showed it.'

Drogba believes Chelsea have learnt from our previous encounters with Barcelona.

'We have improved from three years ago because we did not concede a goal at home and we are just happy because the result is a good one. We are going to go there and try to have a go and qualify.

'We come from a difficult time and it is great to play these games. It was difficult on the night but the most important thing was for us to win this game.'

'It is clearly going to be tough going back there to Barcelona,' admits John Terry. 'Quite clearly they are going to have opportunities there on a big pitch and given their possession. They are a great side but we showed in the first game that we are not in awe of them.

'We respect them, it is going to be tough, but another performance like that and we will be okay.'

The Blues left-back feels that Roberto di Matteo’s side have what it takes to nullify the attacking threat of Pep Guardiola’s team and that it will be Chelsea in the final.
Cole also feels that Chelsea have been the closest of all English sides at toppling the Catalan side and revealed the west Londoners have a game-plan to eliminate the reigning European champions.“Chelsea, of course. Chelsea against Real Madrid, I hope,” he said in the Evening Standard when asked who he thinks will be stepping out in Munich next month.
“We know what Barcelona are about and that we have to be on our game. We’re confident and feel we’re good enough to progress.
“I do think that while they’re not worried about us, out of the teams they’ve played in the Champions League and the Premier League sides they’ve faced, we have given them the hardest run.”
Cole is talking about the 2009 semi-final when he speaks of running Barcelona close, where a last minute Andres Iniesta strike meant Chelsea went out on away goals on a night filled with controversy.
The Blues felt as though the referee on the night, Tom Henning Ovrebo, denied them a number of penalty kicks and their anger was evident when they left the field as Didier Drogba ranted at cameras, something he was banned for afterwards.Despite the feeling of injustice and the last-gasp elimination, Cole was proud of the side’s performance.“The match against them in 2009 was one of the best games I have seen Chelsea play, with the fight and the determination and the spirit,” he added.“But Iniesta just popped up with that great strike. That’s what they’ve got. All they need is one shot.”
Chelsea will be buoyed going into the game after their emphatic 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday evening.

No Champions Trophy after 2013

The 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, to be held in England, will be the last time the tournament is played as the ICC moves towards having one championship for each of the game's three formats from 2015. The tournament is part of the Future Tours Program in 2013 but does not appear after that, with the play-offs for the World Test Championship scheduled for June 1017."If you don't see it in the schedule, it means it is not planned for the future," Haroon Lorgat, the ICC's chief executive, said at a press conference following the executive board meeting on Monday. "We have said for a while that we would like one championship event for each format. We are including the Test championship in there. We have the World Cup to have the champion for 50-overs cricket. So we are not planning to hold Champions Trophy in the future."The World Test Championship was initially scheduled for 2013, but had to be postponed due to the ICC's commitments to its broadcaster and sponsors. The ICC's broadcast partner is, with whom they have a contract till 2015. The ICC had initially hoped to convince all interested parties to switch the Champions Trophy, the ICC's second-biggest 50-over tournament, to play-offs between the top four Test teams as per the ICC Test rankings.However, after the ICC's executive board meeting in October, 2011, it released a statement saying there would be significant commercial challenges in replacing the Champions Trophy without the support and consent of the ICC's broadcast partner. Changing the tournament's format from ODIs to Test play-offs would have required a substantial cut in the broadcast rights fee, which would have repercussions on the Members.Inaugurated as the ICC Knock Out tournament in 1998, the Champions Trophy was played every two years until 2009, switching to a round-robin format in 2002. Originally, all ten Full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) took part, together with (for the first four competitions) two Associate members. The 2013 event in England will feature the eight highest-ranked ODI teams calculated six months before the tournament.
