Andy Murray in 4th round of Wimbledon

Andy Murray didn't just defeat beat Marcos Baghdatis, he beat the mayor of Merton. The local borough’s 11pm curfew snapped down halfway through the final game of his 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory but he narrowly made it through this unprecedented race against time.Like Cinderella trying to find the way home before her carriage turns back into a pumpkin, Murray rushed through the final set in just 29 minutes to squeak through into the fourth round. Never before has a tennis player gone up against the clock in the same way.Murray may hate being called a drama queen, but there’s no doubt he’s a magnet for drama. At the final changeover, he didn’t sit down in an effort to get the job done before the guillotine fell. In the end, the match finished at 11.02pm, beating the record of 10.58pm set by Novak Djokovic two years ago.“They [the tournament organisers] did a good job,” Murray said afterwards. “It said on the screen even if it hasn’t finished it can’t go past 11pm. I broke and then I thought we were done. I didn’t sit down at the final change of ends. I don’t know what the rules are, whether the tournament gets a fine or whatever, because it hasn’t happened before.”The Centre Court roof has been a curiosity in the three years since its introduction in 2009, but this summer it has become almost as much a participant in the drama as the players. There have been a number of judgment calls made by the referee’s office, and not all of them have turned out ideally. Such, for instance, as the decision to play the entirety of Friday under the roof because of the threat of rain, even though the outside courts were carrying on quite happily.

Ferrer,Tsonga,Del Potro,Fish,Schiavone,Shevodova,Vinci in 4th round of Wimblidon

David FERRER beat Andy RODDICK 2-6, 7-6, 6-4, 6-3He's holding a couple of hours Andy Roddick, David Ferrer then climbs into the chair. Yet the Spaniard, seeded No. 7 in the tournament, had not entered the field in the best way: First batch at a net benefit of Roddick 6-2 and game that seemed would be channeled to the path of an American very agile even in displacements. The watershed of the race, however, where Ferrer on September 2, just ahead of a break, do you recall at 4-4 and drag to the tie-break: here, Ferrer, cancels his service on a ball sets to Roddick and then closes 10 points to 8. Bingo. From that moment the Valencian can not find the key in response to the services of Roddick and, simultaneously, the U.S. loses the physical reaction that was shown in the first two sets. The result is that Ferrer carries away so the third, fourth and the passage of the turn. For him now to be the challenge with Del Potro.Interesting game.
Joe-Wilfried TSONGA beat Lukas LACKO 6-4, 6-3, 6-3There was no precedent between the two: Joe-Wilfried Tsonga opens the record by beating Lukas Lacko without hesitation, number 60 of the ATP ranking, Mardy Fish to reach the second round of the Championships. First three service games without conceding 15 for Lacko, but in the fourth Slovak concentrates a double fault and two unforced errors to give the break to Tsonga, good at putting your feet in the corridor to the winner with straight lungolinea. French enough to defend a break point with the first heavy (and successful) to win the first game: the second will have a very similar scenario with a break at 2-2 - Tsonga good to wait for the error Lacko harassment with the slice - and at 5-4. Third set with fast rosters until 4-3, when the second of Lacko Tsonga attacks and break-point on the exchange asleep before closing the charging straight ahead.Tsonga lands to the second week on the fields of the All England Club after beating a former number 1 (Lleyton Hewitt) and sold one set to the Spaniard Garcia-Lopez: The explosive curtain on the tournament is Nadal for French - the fifth head series - an opportunity too great to at least try to repeat last year's semifinals.
Juan Martin del Potro beat Kei Nishikori 6-3, 7-6 (3), 6-1Vince convinces Juan Martin Del Potro who rule without too many problems the Japanese Nishikori. If Del Potro in the first set maintains the increased speed of the ball in trade (6-3), second in the Argentine ran into one of his usual steps vacuum which could lengthen his game is not much: the giant of Tandil in fact, after escaping up a break once in the opening set, do not lose your head after you close an easy fifteen allowing Nishikori to put a super part that allows you to drag the game until the tie-break. And there Del Potro is lucky in the first 4 points in fact, the Argentine has helped to 2 times from tape instead of pushing the Japanese a 2-2 4-0 states that triggers the classic "click" the switch Del Potro's head, and from that moment the fact seeded No. 9 in the tournament sticks with the service and with a partial 5 straight games to 1 which effectively condemns Nishikori. In the third set it is just below the Japanese and, very quickly, bowing to the law of the jungle.
Mardy FISH beat David GOFFIN 6-3, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (6)Mardy Fish is back. Now it's really official. The U.S., after the problems of heart, was to return to Wimbledon and after the first few turns rosewater now faced an obstacle very gentle: David Goffin. And the test was passed with flying colors. Fish, seeded No. 10 in the tournament, has played a great match percentages really pulling out by applause, an example of all? 56 winners and only 18 unforced errors. Goffin, for its part, has however confirmed to be a really good player (for later this year, if it goes on like this, to get into the top 40) and has paid only little experience in playing key points: the unfortunate approach Network dul 6-6 in the first tie-break and altrattanto squandered the advantage (4-1 to 4-5) in the second. Fish flies still deservedly in the second round where he will find the winner of the match between Lacko and Tsonga.
Philipp Kohlschreiber beat Lukas Rosol 6-2, 6-3, 7-6And as often happens in court, after the company, the hero greets the tournament. It ends in the third round of the adventure Death of Nadal, Lukas Rosol, who against Kohlschreiber is unable to replicate the day of grace against the Mallorcan and lived in Germany for 3 sets gives "easy easy". The game, in fact, there is only the third where the ceko can drag Kohlschreiber at the tie-break but there, in the end, you must inchianare for eight points to six. For German, the second round, there is the AmericanBrian Baker in his challenge to beat third-round 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 French Paire
OTHER RESULTS
Francesca SCHIAVONE beat Klara Zakopalova 6-0, 6-4Francesca Schiavone reaches the revelation of Italian tennis, Camila Giorgi, in the second round of Wimbledon women's draw by beating Klara Zakopalova, 30, number 30 of the WTA ranking. Czech undertone: we left in the fourth round of Roland Garros, when he snatched the only set of the tournament winner Sharapova then before the surrender, and in the semifinals on the grass of Eastbourne, but today the Zakopalova never entered into the game , undergoing the changes of a Schiavone finally breaks free. Francesca shuffles the cards with a court order to leave the czech very diverse, particularly marked on Italy's slice, without points of reference for its predominantly offensive game. The first set is a monologue in 22 ', in accordance with the Zakopalova found a bit' of pace from the baseline, but just a break point at 3-3 (closed with a superb backhand volley from the halfway line) for deciding ' meeting in just over an hour. Schiavone in the second round awaits the winner of the match between Varvara Lepchenko and Petra Kvitova: the first has eliminated Francesca a month ago at Roland Garros, the czech, seeded No. 4, is the reigning champion of the Championship.
Yaroslava Shvedova beat Sara ERRANI 6-0, 6-4Sara Errani, must yield to a great Yaroslava Shvedova, after the quarter-finals by qualifying at Roland Garros, explodes his hammering on the grass courts of Wimbledon by making its first illustrious victim (the Italian was seeded number 10 the Championship) with a severe 6-0, 6-4. In the first set an amazing thing happens, because Shvedova scored 24 consecutive points in 15 minutes signing the golden set that in tennis history has only one year (but masculine), because the company made only against the United States Bill Scanlon Marcos Hocevar February 22, 1983 at the tournament in Delray Beach, Florida. What's more, the Errani, in addition to not score in the first game, one mistake is not forced to validate the 14 winners of Shvedova unplayable. The second set is more balanced, because Errani is the first to forget the dramatic 15 0/24 in the first game and suffered tears to the service Shvedova, but must immediately give the break / back to 0. At 3-3 to Win earns two break-point - the Shvedova fixed with two aces, a second, and two first heavy - and saves in a game later, but the Italian still loses the last game against the beat a player who, despite the 65th position in the WTA rankings, the grass has dominated in just 54 minutes with 6 aces and 35 winners.
Roberta Vinci b. Mirjana Lucic 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-3)Finally, Roberta Vinci, the Italian most "herbivorous", reached the knockout stages for the first time in its seventh final participation in the Championship by beating Croatia's Mirjana Lucic, semifinalist in 1999 and returned ten years later at higher levels. It takes two tie-break to decide on a very balanced match with only two breaks in the first set and a statistical inversely proportional, because if Lucic makes so many winners, but so wrong (31 unforced errors), the Vinci closes fewer points (22 winners ) but it fails very few (10) delight with the backhand volley. Win the victory of the closing program of the third round draw female allows Italy to become the nation represented in the second round with three tennis players (along with Giorgi and Schiavone Salento) against the two Russian (Sharapova and Kirilenko) and Germany ( Lisicki and Kerber).

Federer,Djokovic,Pironkova,Gasquat,Querrey,Xavier in the 4th round of Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic the world no 1 beat, Radek Stepanek 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 in the third round at Wimbledon. Wimbledon was not quite ready for another Czech earthquake after the rude dismissal of Rafael Nadal. However, for the duration of a set on Centre Court, the prospect of losing the defending champion on day five sent a shiver through the tournament that did not seem altogether out of kilter with the prevailing mood. If Novak Djokovic thought he might be the next aristocrat tossed on to the tumbril after his stuttering start against the oldest man left in the draw, the 33-year-old Czech Radek Stepanek, before going on to win comfortably in four sets, he expressed no such concerns later. But did he not think for a second that Stepanek might be about to emulate his compatriot Lukas Rosol, Nadal's conqueror, when he saved five break points to take the first set?"Not really," he said. "Obviously I had a lot of chances in the opening set but, being aware of his qualities and experience, I wasn't too surprised with the way he played in important moments. He was mentally very composed. He was out there to win a match. I was a set down but managed to make the crucial break in the opening game of the second set, and then I thought I played really well."Once settled, Djokovic looked his old self, improving by the shot on his way to winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 in 11 minutes short of three hours, a decent workout that tuned him up nicely for a fourth‑round match against his fellow Serb, Viktor Troicki, who beat Juan Monaco 7-5, 7-5, 6-3.Dropping a set against the Czech (he has beaten eight of them in a row since losing to Tomas Berdych here in the semi-finals two years ago) did not presage doom as it did with Nadal against Rosol in that barely believable second‑round match under the roof the night before. Yet there is insurrection in the air this year.Wimbledon has taken on a fresh dynamic, and it is no bad thing – one enlivened by the force of unfamiliar personnel, either sneaking up on their betters and tweaking a few noses or folding meekly before heading for the travel agents. And the old boy Stepanek, probably on his farewell visit to Centre Court, briefly defied the stats and years before Djokovic was roused. At deuce in the ninth game, Stepanek slipped – but Djokovic blew yet another chance, and retreated to the baseline muttering. His mood darkened when Stepanek held his racket firm at the net and let Djokovic's firm reply bounce back into the open court to hold, and went on to take the set.But he cracked at the start of the second, as the defending champion found a rhythm at last. It was still an engaging contest, with Stepanek going stroke for stroke with Djokovic in several high-quality rallies; but, when the Serb ramped up the power, he finally stamped his identity on the match. He was, as John McEnroe observed, merciless at the death, "stringing him along, like a little puppet". That is the Djokovic we know, the predatory assassin, killer of points and hopes. He took just 48 seconds to go to 5-1 in the fourth set before cruising home. Talk about the quick and the dead. What chance, then, for Andy Murray, now that Nadal is missing from his side of the draw? "You can't underestimate any opponent," Djokovic said. "I don't think Rafa did, and I'm sure Andy is aware of that. [Rosol] can serve as an example for everybody that anything is possible in this sport – even though myself, Rafa, Roger [Federer], Murray, a couple other players, have been dominant in grand slams the last couple of years, and it's expected for us to reach the last four. But tennis is improving."Yet there is a perceptible power shift in the game. Nadal has stumbled, and his peers are not blind. Djokovic too has come down from the top of the mountain, failing to grab a piece of history at the French Open with a fourth straight slam title. Miserable evidence though that might be of a revolution, tennis might finally be getting a glimpse.
Roger Federer the six time Wimbledon Champion was pushed to five sets Friday by Julien Benneteau of France,Federer pulled out a 4-6, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 victory.Federer had not lost in the third round of a major tournament since being bounced from the 2004 French Open. On Thursday, Nadal, the No. 2 seed, fell to 100th-ranked Lukas Rosol, a shocker that Federer said wasn’t on his mind.“You focus on your match and Julien was playing amazing. ... I knew it was going to be a difficult match,” Federer told the BBC. “He played so well, he was making me doubt obviously for most of the match and that’s a credit to him. He just played amazing, I thought.”In winning his second-round match, Federer had been impressive, winning 37 of 41 points on his first serve and 21 of 23 points at the net against Fabio Fognini, but he struggled to assert that dominance against Benneteau.“It was a tough match,” Federer said. “It was brutal. A bit of luck maybe on my side, who knows? I tried hard, I fought until the very end . Obviously he was hurt [a trainer had come out to attend to Benneteau], I guess, in some way in the fifth set. I tried in the third, fourth and fifth just to stay alive and come back.”In other men’s matches, the tournament’s top seed, Novak Djokovic, Djokovic advanced with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Radek Stepanek.
Bulgaria’s best tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova defeated Agnieshka Radvanska with 6-2, 6-4 in a game of the tournament in London. The Polish player Radvanska is №3 in the world rank list, which is her record ranking, and since the beginning of the season she has won the tournaments in Dubai, Miami and Brussels. This is the eight victory for Tsvetana Pironkova.
Richard GASQUET beat. Nicolas Almagro 6-3, 6-4, 6-4Third round interest between two high-seeded teams - Almagro is the number 12 seed, Gasquet on 14 - and between two players with different characteristics, because Spanish is a great colpitore, while French has provided a very elegant collection of tennis and diversified. Gasquet and Almagro have in common rather one-handed backhands finest, along with Federer, the men's tennis. First set, against all odds, no exchanges and break Gasquet in the first game: just enough to win the first leg, although Almagro earned a break point, but the line judge calling the messes out of a full line of Spanish forcing him to repeat the point. With 5-second set break point to hand Gasquet another crucial game at 2-2.Almagro would have the opportunity to replace with three break points, but the French cancels with the first winning ace serve and volley and proving their day. Unlike Almagro, who sells the service in the decisive third set with volleys on the tape, right out in the open field and a double foul. Gasquet beats Almagro for the first time as a professional: it could not happen on the grass.

Sam QUERREY beat. Milos RAONIC 6-7 (3), 7-6 (7), 7-6 (8), 6-4There is a great game one between Sam Querrey and Milos Raonic and lasts longer than expected for a number of factors. The first is the basic balance, the second is the dark and the third is the rain.Suspended for darkness at 3-3 in the third set, the match to resume in late Friday morning due to bad weather and when you return to the field is little difference between the two players remain so. thus arrives at the third of three tiebreak sets, Querrey after winning a good defense by Raonic. The Canadian transition to a vacuum and you do the break in the opening set and the fourth will be the key turning point, why not give Querrey and nothing is going to win. In the third round will face Marin Cilic.
Xavier Malisse b. Fernando Verdasco 1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1, 4-6 6-3It might seem an obvious match for what it had begun between Fernando Verdasco and Xavier Malisse, but it does not. Verdasco the fact very strong and in half an hour trimming a sharp opponent 6-1, however, that he recovers and fights like a lion in the second set, despite a sore left knee that required the intervention of a physiotherapist. It is the tiebreaker, won the Belgian dive 7-5. In comeback, Malisse fore the result of the first set 6-1 and won the third practically without leaving the Spaniard to play, and again it seems obvious the trend of the match. But no, because Verdasco pulls out the pride and immediately break the opponent does, that he fails to recover and Verdasco will then close the set 6-4. To proceed in equal fifth to the eighth game, when there is a break Malisse, who then serves for the match and closes the meeting.

OTHER RESULTS

Vicktor Troicki is the first to enter the second round by eliminating Juan Monaco in three sets, seeded 15, with a score of 7-5 7-5 6-3, Mikhail Youzhny in four sets eliminates the seeded 8, Janko Tipsarevic, with the final 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. D. Istomin b. A. Falla 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6.

Wimbledon: Men Singles 2ND Round Up

The Men Singles 2ND Round Has Been Completed And Results Are The Following:

Lukas Rosol Upsets R.Nadal
Lukas Rosol B. Rafael Nadal 6-7 6-4 6-4 2-6 6-4

If someone had predicted that Rafael Nadal would be released in the second round of Wimbledon against the world number 100, the majority would probably burst out laughing. But this is precisely what happened on the fourth day of the tournament in London. The grass is not the surface of the Majorcan favorite, yet she won Wimbledon twice, in 2008 and 2010, so it was expected that Lukas Rosol not be a problem. Not so, because the blind is one of those who refuse to be cowed and quickly makes it clear to the number 2 in the world who does not want to give gifts. The match that comes out is really interesting, because the lefty Manacor is now in difficulty in having to deal with someone that howls, and as he angled.

Andy Murray

Andy MURRAY b. I. Karlovic 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 7-6 (5)

The world number 4 leads to the third round of Wimbledon after four sets (poca!) game against the giant Croat Ivo Karlovic and will play Saturday against Marcos Baghdatis, who beat the Bulgarian Dimitrov to withdraw. As expected, a little game for Murray and a superhuman effort to put the bat on the slings Karlovic (17 aces and 83% of points on first serve) which forces the second time, but just a chance to tie-break of the fourth (plus a third set sold soon) Croatian forces to double fault giving the mini-decisive advantage in Murray. The Scot, after playing well against Davydenko, he played a game of sacrifice winning through to the many winners (43): Most, of course, by passing on the Karlovic serve and volley.
Andy Roddick

Andy RODDICK b. Bjorn Phau 6-3, 7-6 (1), 6-3

Andy Roddick, after the Queen's, Eastbourne final (won against Seppi) and "48 hours" in the first round against the Englishman Jamie Baker - match interrupted three times in as many days due to rain / darkness - celebrates its fourth day on fields of the All England Club by beating German Bjorn Phau without worries. It will be a great third round of the U.S., a finalist at Wimbledon three times between 2004 and 2009, against David Ferrer, seeded No. 7 and the protagonist of a great first half of 2012. Last Sunday, the Spaniard has won the tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch on grass.
David Ferrer

David FERRER b. Kenny de Schepper 7-6 (1), 6-2 6-4

It's fun and balanced match between David Ferrer and the Kenny De Schepper: Spanish demonstrates a good shape even on the grass, while the French did not take itself too seriously and is willing to smile when fortune does not smile at him . The tiebreak in the first set is almost exclusively a soliloquy of Valencia, which leaves the opponent to only 1 point in a set that proceeds without break. In the other two partial Ferrer has a poo life easier, even if the final ripping service to the French only in closing.
Xavier Malisse

Xavier Malisse b. Gilles Simon 6-4 6-4 7-6 (5)

The grass is not his area, but Gilles Simon is definitely on the day and gives viewers the show is not worthy of a field 3 of its value. The seeded number 13 then comes out of the scene against the Belgian owner of an aggressive tennis that often sends the opponent off the court. In the third set, Simon saves twice going to serve to stay in the match, but the tiebreaker is fatal.
Dolgopolov
Benoit Paire b. Alexandr DOLGOPOLOV 7-6 (5), 6-2, 6-1

There was a long waiting list for Alexandr Dolgopolov, seeded 22, but the Ukrainian leaves the stage to the second round against Benoit Paire, French born in 1989 and No. 55 of the ATP ranking. For Dolgopolov, that in the first round he defeated Alex Bogomolov, percentages are too low in the service (only 45% of the points on the second); Paire, 47 winners in 3 sets, is a nice surprise of the tournament and will face the third round the American Brian Baker.
Tsonga

Jo-Wilfried TSONGA b. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-7 (3), 6-4 6-1 6-3

It was started in an unusual match of Tsonga: was expected to see the domination of the French du Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, and is not so. The Spanish play good tennis and is not intimidated by strong, deep strokes of the Alps, which is struggling through the first set and was finally able to win the tiebreak. The level of play, however, remains high and Garcia-Lopez continues to push, but gradually the values are reversed in the field makes the break and Tsonga in the final set, bringing the count in balance. The third set is cut short, the French said the pace of the game and partially closes in just 25 '. Garcia-Lopez in the fourth set grows again, but it is transformed from a decisive break point at 4-3 Tsonga. Become 5-3, the Frenchman goes to serve for the match and made no mistake, despite the strenuous defense of the opponent. Ace in the third round meeting with Lacko.

Wimbledon: Women's Singles 2ND Round Up

Women's Singles 2ND Round Has Been Completed And The Results Are The Following:

Victoria Azarenka

Victoria AZARENKA b. Romina OPRANDI 6-2, 6-0

The head of the No. 2 and the holder of the Australian Open is a trip of 50 minutes on Court 2 to get rid of with strict Swiss Romina Oprandi 6-1, 6-0. Gap and no huge game, for this further comment seems superfluous.

Serena Williams

S.WILLIAMS b. Czink 6-1, 6-4

Should not force too much for Serena Williams through the round, although Melinda Czink opposes more resistance than expected. The first set is quick and painless, with the Hungarian holding his first turn at bat and then gets overwhelmed by the broadsides of Serena. In 20 'the U.S. is already 1 set to 0. Pippa Middleton seems to still have fun and actually the second part is more balanced. There are no breaks until the Czink 4-4 and takes the field much better. But when Serena decides to quit, it becomes more difficult for his opponent, who loses his service in the ninth game of the second set and sends Williams to serve for the match. Serena does not stick and closes the meeting with a violent straight, which sends it to the third round with 10 aces and three breaks.

Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova b. Tsvetana Pironkova 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (4-7), 6-0

It takes two hours and twenty to Maria Sharapova to reach the third round of Wimbledon beating the excellent Tsvetana Pironkova: could not be simpler, because the Bulgarian Class 1987 (No. 38 of the WTA rankings) has played a semifinal at Wimbledon in 2010 and defeated Venus Williams in the last two editions. Indeed, the last Pironkova started strong going 3-0 and forcing Sharapova to difficult times at bat to the set-point on the 5-3 and 5-4 (after the break-back) canceled their feet into the field and a perfect angle with the back and attacked the answer. 3 more set points at 6-5, Masha is deep and winning the first fraction and prolongs the tiebreak winning it down, but after 62 minutes of soffertissimo September 1 The second game is interrupted by darkness on Field 1: Partial Sharapova 3-1 with the final break. The great tennis encounter more beautiful, so far, the women's tournament started today with the break-back "immediately" and the other seven games Pironkova level altissimio the second tiebreaker wins the Pironkova, because Mary suddenly loses Service and 3 double faults is a pity that the Bulgarian side in the third set unconditional surrender undergoing a severe and undeserved 6-0.

Petra Kvitova

Petra Kvitova b. Elena Baltacha 6-0, 6-4

There is little to say about the match of Petra Kvitova. The czech does his duty and indeed grant something too Elena Baltacha. The first set beat it smooth and in 22 'is already 60. History seems to repeat itself in the second, when, after a first fought game, the czech flies on 4-0. The British, however, has a reaction of pride and comeback to 4-3, then go and lose 6-4. In the third round will face Varvara Lepchenko.

2nd Semi Final: Italy beat Germany 2-1 at Euro 2012 reach Final will face Spain

Italy Celebrated.
Italy beat Germany 2-1 at Euro 2012  in Warsaw to advance to face Spain in the final of Euro 2012 thanks to a fine brace from Mario Balotelli.Germany started the game well and forced Andrea Pirlo to clear off his own line inside five minutes, but soon after Italy went ahead as Antonio Cassano crossed for Balotelli to head home from close range. With Germany struggling, Balotelli then latched on to a long through ball to smash home a second past Manuel Neuer and put the game to bed before half-time. Mesut Ozil's last-minute penalty was not enough to prevent Germany's suffering their first defeat in a competitive game since their World Cup semi-final loss to Spain two years ago.Indeed, it was their third semi-final loss in their past four tournaments, one of which, in the 2006 World Cup, came against tonight's opponents, who have still never lost to Germany in a competitive game, and now face Spain in Kiev on Sunday.Germany had started the match as favourites, mainly thanks to their world record run of 15 successive victories. Having seen how hard England had found it to subdue Andrea Pirlo, it was anticipated they would deal with him much better. Instead, it was worse.Sitting deep on the halfway line, Germany allowed Pirlo the time to pick out returning full-back Giorgio Chiellini with a brilliant pass to the touchline. From there, it went downhill rapidly for Joachim Low's side. Chiellini nudged the ball onto Cassano, who swivelled past Mats Hummels with the minimum of fuss. Balotelli immediately got himself some space behind Holger Badstuber and when the cross came, he rose to power the ball home from six yards. If that was efficient in its execution, Balotelli's second was brutal. Advancing from deep inside his own half, Riccardo Montolivo could scarcely believe the room he was given. Twice he looked up to see if anything was on. On the second occasion he spotted Balotelli making his run, exploiting Philipp Lahm's failure to maintain the offside line.It took Balotelli a bit of time to get himself into a shooting position. However, as the ball sat up nicely, he smashed it past Manuel Neuer. The Germany keeper had set himself to make a save. In the end, there was nothing he could do but stick out a limp hand and fall to the ground, powerless to do anything to prevent his goal being breached a second time. Balotelli was booked for removing his shirt as he attempted to celebrate with a moody pose.He could not keep it up though and broke into a broad smile as he was engulfed by ecstatic team-mates. It was a performance that put English efforts - and Ireland's for that matter - into some kind of perspective. Germany though were a shadow of their normal selves. Twice in the opening stages Gianluigi Buffon had fumbled close to his own line but they could not take advantage.Sami Khedira did launch a volley towards goal in between Balotelli's brace, but on that occasion Buffon was able to make the save. Low took decisive action at the interval, introducing Miroslav Klose and Marco Reus for Mario Gomez and Lukas Podolski, whose fitful contribution cannot have impressed watching Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. The change brought some much-needed life into German ranks. However, their efforts at hauling themselves back into the contest were repeatedly thwarted. Lahm failed to hit the target after running onto Toni Kroos' return pass before Buffon pushed Reus' free-kick against his own bar and away to safety.A disappointing Ozil surged to the by-line but, with hardly any room, Khedira needed to react far quicker than he did to the near-post cut-back. Balotelli's exit with cramp meant he was denied the opportunity to become the first player to score a semi-final hat-trick since Gerd Muller did it in 1976. His replacement, Antonio Di Natale, should have wrapped up victory when he found himself in acres of space inside the box, but dragged his effort wide of the far post, much to Balotelli's frustration.Federico Balzaretti's handball in the final minute did provide a few nerves for Italy as Ozil fired home from the spot. But Prandelli's men were able to reach the final whistle and celebrate their triumph.

Australians Depart Wimbledon And Other Results And News Of Wimbledon

Bernard Tomic, Lleyton Hewitt and Matthew Ebden The Three Australians Has Departed From Wimbledon Following Their Defeats From Opposition.

Bernard Tomic
David Goffin Beat Bernard Tomic

The defeats follow the previous night's loss by Marinko Matosevic and mean the second round at the All England Club will be without any male Australian players for the first time since 1938.Samantha Stosur remains the only Australian left in the singles draw.Tomic, seeded 20th, went down to Belgian wildcard David Goffin 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, and admitted afterwards he had "slacked off a bit" in recent times.Later, Hewitt - who was also a wildcard - was beaten by Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.Tomic, the 20th seed and a Wimbledon quarter-finalist last year, arrived at the All England Club in the midst of a woeful run which had seen him fail to get past the second round in 11 of his last 12 tournaments. That dispiriting sequence included withdrawing from the Wimbledon warm-up in Halle with a stomach virus, then losing in the first round at Eastbourne last week. The 19-year-old's misery showed no signs of relenting on court two as he failed to emulate last year's impressive run, when he shocked stars Robin Soderling and Nikolay Davydenko en route to becoming the youngest player since Boris Becker in 1986 to reach the last eight.Tomic won the first set against Goffin but after that the match quickly slipped away and the Australian took out his frustrations on his equipment, destroying two racquets. He was later booed off the court.Bernard Tomic Said"I'm not normally like that, but it's a good way to get relief when you smash a racquet"."I don't normally do it and it's not like I'll be continuing to do it."Explaining his loss to Wimbledon debutant Goffin, Tomic told a news conference he has the talent but he has not been working hard enough."To have talent is one thing, it's huge for any sport," 20th seed Tomic said."But I have sort of slacked off a little bit and look what it's costing me. Last eight, nine weeks I'm losing a lot of first, second rounds. So it's not my quality of tennis."My quality of tennis should be getting me to a lot of semi-finals, finals at tournaments or even winning, but lack of concentration, not working hard, it costs you."Goffin debuted at Wimbledon inspired by his performance at Roland Garros. The Belgian reached the fourth round in Paris as a lucky loser."Well, look, he's 21. I'm 18, 19. I've gotten into the top 30," Tomic said. "It's different. He has time and he's going to obviously be a top-30 player. He has great groundstrokes."But I think what I've lacked the last few weeks is the consistency and it's tough to get."Against Goffin, Tomic secured an early break that settled the first set with the minimum fuss. But there were still too many signs of Tomic's inconsistency in the second set as he dropped serve twice either side of a break of his own. That was enough for Goffin to level the match and he kept the pressure on Tomic with another break in the first game of the third set. With Goffin's serve holding up well, Tomic was starting to look increasingly frustrated as the Belgian moved two sets to one ahead.Tomic's angst only increased in the fourth set as Goffin, who took a set off Roger Federer before losing to 16-time Grand Slam champion in Paris, landed another blow with an early break. That was enough to shatter Tomic's spirit for good and Goffin was soon celebrating his first ever win on grass.Tomic was booed off after smashing two racquets during the match, but he says his behaviour was uncharacteristic."I'm not normally like that but it's a good way to get relief when you smash a raquet. I don't normally do it and it's not like I'll be continuing to do it."

Hewitt

Tsonga Beat Hewitt

Tsonga Out-Busted Hewitt By  6-3, 6-4, 6-4 .Former Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt, reduced to being a wildcard at the tournament he won 10 years ago, could never match the firepower of number five seed Tsonga. He said it was a bad day for the Australian men. Matthew Ebden also bowed out following a 1-6, 3-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 loss to France's Benoit Paire."There's a lot of different reasons it could have been," Hewitt told reporters."Draws, matchups, whatever. But at least three of us, the three guys that played today, I know we could have beaten a lot of guys that are still going in the tournament. That's just how it falls."
Hewitt empathised with Tomic who had done so well at Wimbledon last year."It's tough I think that sort of next year after you sort of break through to keep it up and continue doing it," he said."Everybody obviously had massive expectations for him to do well. This is his best surface."Training-wise I don't know what he's been doing. I wouldn't have a clue. But obviously he's had a frustrating last couple of weeks."Both Tomic and Hewitt will be back at Wimbledon to represent Australia in the Olympics. In the women's draw Queensland teenager Ashleigh Barty lost 6-2, 6-4 to Italian 21st seed Roberta Vinci in her first year in the women's singles.Barty was the 2011 Wimbledon junior girls champion and was not too despondent by the loss."I've still got a good record here so I'm looking to improve and come back," Barty said.Casey Dellacqua also lost 6-2, 6-4 when she went up against ninth seed Marion Bartoli of France.Stosur, the only remaining Australian in the singles, takes on Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands at 10pm Wednesday night (AEST).

Matthew Ebden
Benoit Paire Beat Matthew Ebden
Ebden lost 6-1 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 6-3 to 55-ranked Frenchman Benoit Paire, while Tomic wasted a strong early start to go down to 70-ranked Belgian David Goffin 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.Marinko Matosevic, ranked 72 and Australia's second-highest rated player after Tomic, had earlier complained that a cold or flu had left him feeling dreadful during his lacklustre and erratic effort against Belgian veteran Xavier Malisse, who is ranked three spots lower but had little trouble dismissing him 6-2 6-2 7-5.

The top-seeded No. 8, Janko Tipsarevic, defeated the American Ryan Sweeting, No. 130 ATP, and qualifies for the third round of Wimbledon where he will face the winner between Youzhny and Cervantes. First two sets with the same script and score, but the opposite outcome: no one ever goes to benefits with brisk innings, but before Tipsarevic Sweeting and then tear the last service game to the opponent to close the surroundings. There is another analogy between the third and fourth set, but this time only in favor of Tipsarevic, ripping the cover 1-1 service to the opponent of the last fractions and does not lose his turn at bat for close the meeting. Sweeting plays a match, and generous with a big serve (16 aces with 70% of points on the first), but the Serbian is another category.
