GARETH BALE COULD BE BANNED:
The Tottenham Left-Back Gareth Bale Could Be Banned For playing for Tottenham during the Olympic Games if the FA lodges a complaint about him featuring for his club while unavailable for Team GB.Bale scored as Spurs drew 1-1 with LA Galaxy during their American tour on Tuesday. He had been withdrawn from GB coach Stuart Pearce's squad for the Olympics because of injury. The FA and British Olympic Association have not commented on his appearance for Andre Villas-Boas' side, but Blatter said: "The principle is that if a club does not release a player, then an association can come to FIFA and we will then ban this player during the Olympics."So far, nobody has come to FIFA [to complain about Bale] - but it is a possibility that we could ban these players if they are not at the disposal of the national team."They [a football association] complain and then we say: 'Let this player go or he cannot play for the club.' FIFA's position has never been so clear as it is now for the Olympics 2012 and 2016."If any complaint over Bale was made and led to a ban, it would mean the 23-year-old Welsh international could not play in any matches for Tottenham until August 12.But Spurs would be likely to argue that Bale only regained fitness this week, justifying the decision to withdraw him from Pearce's GB squad.Bale played 74 minutes of the match against Galaxy, and Villas-Boas said: "Gareth is extremely young and physically a beast, so he was able to put on the effort."We extended [his time] because we want him to complete a certain amount of minutes before we start the season."
LIVERPOOL MOVING CLOSER IN TALKS OF ALLEN:
Allen, 22, has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool as former Swans boss Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his midfield options ahead of his debut season in charge at Anfield.Rodgers has agreed not to make an approach for any of his ex-players unless a rival club makes a bid for their services, but it has been suggested on Wednesday a clause in Allen's contract could pave the way for an exit.It is claimed that Allen's terms, which he extended last summer, dictate that an offer of £15 million from one of the 'top' clubs would trigger a clause that would allow personal terms to be discussed.Allen has made over 100 league appearances for Swansea, scoring seven goals, and caught the eye in Premier League last season with his neat passing game.Liverpool Agree 13M Fee For Joe Allen.
Henry Is Planning His Return, Henry, 34, spent time training with Arsenal during the off season of the MLS last winter before agreeing a short-term loan agreement in January with the club he left for Barcelona in 2007.The Frenchman scored twice during his loan spell, his first of those strikes on his comeback match in the FA Cup against Leeds, and he has admitted he sees his future back at Emirates Stadium.Henry said in the Sun: "I would like to go back to England with Arsenal for sure. I wasn't planning to go back to play last season. It was only because Gervinho and [Marouane] Chamakh went to the African Nations Cup."I was there to train and they asked me if I wanted to play. Who knows what might happen in the future? I've not yet spoken to Arsene about it so I don't know what capacity I could go back in."Coaching does interest me but I don't know what my talent is going to be after I have finished my career. But I will go back to Arsenal."
Harry Redknapp Insists That He want to Help Pompy's as Former Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has told ESPN that he will talk to Nwankwo Kanu in a bid to help save the club.Pompey face extinction after administrator Trevor Birch set a deadline of August 10 for them to get their finances in order.Kanu, 35, has lodged a claim for £3 million in pay while defender Tal Ben Haim, 30, is also owed a similar amount by the cash-strapped Fratton Park outfit.Redknapp signed Kanu from West Brom in 2006 during his time in charge on the South Coast, and is eager to speak to the Nigerian in the hope of reaching a comprimise that might help the club.: "I will be ringing Kanu today to see if there is anything I can do. I signed him for Portsmouth on a one-year contract and Tony Adams told me: 'You must be mad, he is finished'. Six years later, he is still there."In the case of Tal Ben Haim, if players have a contract and are owed money, you can see why they think they should get it. But if the club closes down they won't get a penny. They need to think hard about that."Redknapp also expressed hope that an investor to inject money into Portsmouth could be found, saying the club had spiralled since former owner Milan Mandric left Fratton Park.He continued: "Portsmouth has got to be saved. It's a great club with great traditions. It would be a disaster if this club went out of business."It has great fans to the extent that, if you live in Portsmouth, you are a Portsmouth supporter. If you walk around in that town, you don't see people wearing Manchester United or Arsenal shirts."It is soul-destroying to see them in this predicament, and there must be a group of people out there or someone who could take over the club so cheaply and save them."I would love to see someone do that. Surely it cannot happen that Portsmouth go out of business. If someone did come in, the club could be resurrected quickly. It wouldn't take a lot to get it going again."I remember when Milan came in and bought the club all those years ago, they were looking to lock the gates then and go into administration - but he turned it all around and made it work."When he sold the club, it spiralled out of control. Balram Chainrai put a lot of money in, but he must think it is the worst investment he ever made in his life. But now it just needs some people who understand football and who can work with the players."
The Croatian Was Made Train With Reserves But Apologized to Tottenham Hotspur for staging a rebellion to try and engineer a move to Real Madrid, but he will continue to train away from the first-team squad as the club wait for an acceptable offer. The midfielder failed to board the squad's plane to Los Angeles last Saturday as Tottenham embarked on their pre-season tour of the United States and he has been told not to bother flying out to join his team-mates on the east coast.Instead, he will work on his fitness at the club's training ground, waiting and hoping that Real match an asking price of £40m. Tottenham's ideal scenario is that Paris Saint-Germain's interest will drive up the transfer fee but Modric does not want to move to the French club."Any coach would like to count on a player of that dimension," said Tottenham's manager, André Villas-Boas. He's still our player at the moment and at the moment I'm counting on him. He is in London, we decided for him to stay in London."Tottenham, who drew 1-1 with LA Galaxy at the Home Depot Center on Wednesday morning, next face Liverpool in Baltimore on Saturday, then the New York Red Bulls in New Jersey on Tuesday. Asked if the 26-year-old would link up with the squad, Villas-Boas said it was unlikely."I don't think so, it's something that I have to judge," he said. "The game against Liverpool is going to be played in tremendous heat. We only have three days of training for that game, then eventually we have the last game against New York Red Bulls so it doesn't give a lot of time for us to train."At the level that the others are at the moment I think it would not be sensible to bring Luka back but the decision can still be taken."Modric's stance has, naturally, irked the club's hierarchy, but the chairman, Daniel Levy, is willing to do business – unlike last year, when he categorically refused to sell the Croatia international to Chelsea."He has spoken to me and to the chairman," said Villas-Boas. "I think his apology comes and it's welcome, the player is now training and just hopefully will make the right decision in the future. We're just waiting on the bidding clubs to offer the right value for the player.Another attacking midfielder, Steven Pienaar, is not on the tour and is set to rejoin his former club. "There are ongoing talks with Everton," Villas-Boas said.Rafael van der Vaart and Kyle Walker both picked up minor injuries in the game against a Galaxy team missing David Beckham and Landon Donovan but featuring the former Tottenham striker, Robbie Keane. However, Gareth Bale played for 73 minutes, scored and was easily the best player on the pitch. The Wales winger's excellence was intriguing since he pulled out of contention for Team GB's Olympics squad at the end of last month citing injury worries. He was reported to have aggravated a back injury during a training run, shortly after signing a new four-year contract. He was said to be unwilling to risk exacerbating the problem during the intense Olympics tournament."We just welcome his recovery, that is the most important thing for me, to have a player of his dimensions available," Villas-Boas said."We had to control the amount of effort he could put in. He is of course extremely young and physically a beast so he was able to put in the effort. We extended that because we want him to complete a certain amount of minutes before we start the season. You could say that we took a risk. If you recall, 10 minutes into the [LA] game he was stretching himself so he was feeling a little bit of muscle tightness but it was controllable and we just let him carry on."
Lucas Moura could yet become a Manchester United player after his agent, Wagner Ribeiro, claimed that he has been told to keep "negotiating" with the club by the Brazilian. Moura is in Cardiff with the Brazil squad preparing for their opening match of London 2012 against Egypt at the Millennium Stadium on Thursday. The 19-year-old's transfer from São Paulo had appeared off after United were asked to pay £30m, with a £25m bid having previously been rejected. But Ribero told Radio Globo: "The player is my boss, I always talk to him. He determines what I do, my objectives. If he says that he doesn't want to leave São Paulo, I won't even listen to the offer. He told me to keep negotiating when I talked about Manchester United's interest."It's a great offer. If it was an [impossible to refuse] one, he would leave, but he is happy at São Paulo too. If he stays there, life goes on."
Arsene Wenger Suggests he will not stop buying players but wants to keep spending.ARSENE WENGER is ready to take his spending for the summer to over £40million for the summer — whether Robin Van Persie stays or leaves the club.Arsenal are now confident of landing £16million Malaga winger Santi Corzola and will make a bid in the next 48 hours.Cazorla, 27, who played for Spain twice at Euro 2012, is keen to join the Gunners and would become the club’s third signing of the summer.Lukas Podolski arrived from Cologne for £11m and Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud joined for £12.8m.But before watching his team score two late goals to win their first tour of the Far East 2-1 against a Malaysia XI, Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis told Wenger he could continue to chase more targets over the next two weeks.Despite insisting otherwise, Wenger still wants Rennes £17m-rated midfielder Yann M’Vila as he is unconvinced over the fitness of injury-jinxed Abou Diaby.Wenger is also set to pursue 17-year-old striker M’Baye Niang who plays for French club Caen although he has already seen a £6m bid rejected.Arsenal’s squad took a six-hour flight to Beijing after last night’s game ahead of a friendly with Manchester City on Friday and they also play a game in Hong Kong on Sunday. On returning to London on Monday, Wenger will meet again with 28-year-old want-away skipper Van Persie.Wenger wants the situation sorted by August 18 but has told Gazidis he would prefer to know by the end of next week whether the club will sell.Wenger wants an answer despite what offers suitors Manchester City, Juventus and Manchester United make. But Wenger is understood to have been given a boost that, finally, he will be allowed to strengthen a squad which still needs improving if they are to stand any sort of chance of finishing in the top two.Arsenal are also increasingly confident that Theo Walcott, despite interesting Chelsea and Arsenal, will sign a new contract as he has just one year left of his current deal.
Fernando Torres Insists Chelsea will be the contenders of EPL For the season 2012-2013.Despite securing both Champions League and FA Cup glory in May, the Blues finished a massive 25 points behind Premier League champions Manchester City. But Torres, who arrived in the United States to link up with his touring club-mates for the first time since Spain's European Championship triumph, was adamant he could add another prize to his new-found trophy haul. The striker told his personal website, www.fernando9torres.com: "I would love to win a Premier League."Hopefully it will happen this year, but for sure we will be challenging for it."Torres, who finished another difficult season on a real high last term, added: "In my opinion, the equality between the big English teams is at a peak."You just have to look at the way City sealed the title, at the last gasp, and how the team that won the Champions League finished sixth."Chelsea have the chance to lay down a challenge to City when the sides meet in the Community Shield on August 12.Torres said: "That's how the (Community Shield) will be, a battle from start to finish between two teams who are obliged to fight for everything this season in England and in Europe."Torres' confidence in Chelsea's credentials has been bolstered by the summer signings of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin, as well as the impending arrival of Brazil star Oscar. The president of the 20-year-old's current club, Internacional, has confirmed a potential move is at a "very advanced" stage amid reports it will be sealed on Friday.Giovanni Luigi told Brazilian website www.terra.com.br: "The situation is very advanced, but not finalised yet."Oscar has to get his work permit. He needs to have a certain amount of caps to play in England, but I don't believe that will be a problem."Oscar will play in the UK at the Olympics, which begin this week, and says he has already undergone a medical at Chelsea.Reports suggest the Blues will pay a £25million fee for him, some of which will go to the player's former club, Sao Paulo.Luigi added: "I have also reached an agreement with Sao Paulo over their part. It's Chelsea that will pay that, not Internacional."
