QPR's players are poised for a showdown meeting on Friday to decide whether to shake John Terry's hand ahead of the potentially explosive clash against Chelsea.Terry has been struggling with an ankle injury this week but has pleaded with manager Roberto di Matteo to let him lead Chelsea against their fierce rivals on Saturday. The Premier League encounter at Loftus Road will mark the first time Terry and Anton Ferdinand have appeared on the same pitch since the Chelsea defender was cleared of racial abuse in July. While some players at QPR don't have a problem with shaking Terry's hand, it's claimed in Friday's Sun newspaper that the club could ask the Barclays Premier League to scrap the pre-match ritual.A Queens Park Rangers sourced told the newspaper: 'There is a lot of support among the players to back Anton. Feelings are running very high.'Despite the fact he is likely to be targeted by QPR supporters, Terry, the former England captain, does not want to be accused of ducking the issue if he sits out the game and is desperate to go toe-to-toe with Ferdinand. On Thursday, both clubs appealed for their fans to behave at Loftus Road.A statement read: 'Both Chelsea and QPR will work together with the police to ensure that anyone using discriminatory or inflammatory language on Saturday is identified, and that the strongest possible action is taken against them.'Fans witnessing any form of abuse are urged to report it to a matchday steward or text confidentially on 07557 435421.'
