Responsibility On Me To win Matches For Chelsea Says Torres

Fernando Torres Has  vowed to fill the big boots of Didier Drogba this season and lead Chelsea to more trophies.Chelsea legend Drogba headed for China when his contract ended in the summer, signing off as the hero of the club’s Champions League triumph in Munich. And despite being subbed yesterday at QPR after failing to score, £50million Torres admits the responsibility is his to ensure Drogba is not missed. The Spain striker goes into Wednesday’s European Cup opener against Juventus at Stamford Bridge saying: “Didier is not here any more, so there is more responsibility for me and I’m ready for the challenge.“Now, I am looking for new personal targets, like getting as many goals as possible hopefully more than in my best season at Liverpool.”Torres, whose best goals haul in a season at Anfield was 33 in all competitions, is on a high after winning the Golden Boot at the European Championships. And he said: “When you play for Chelsea, you have the chance to win trophies.“That was one of the main reasons I came to the club. And in my first full season, we won two trophies.“Now I have more objectives and this season is very important for me.We have five more trophies to play for, so it could be a magic season.“You win games in the last third of the field and it is exciting we have players like Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard and Oscar, who can play in passes behind the defenders.“I like to play on the shoulder of a defender and move into space to take those passes.“I think last season I became a more complete player and when Roberto Di Matteo became manager, we changed to 4-2-3-1, which suits the kind of players we have much better than 4-3-3.”Torres, 28, added: “I would like to finish my career with all the trophies possible.“I think all the fans are excited about the Premier League again, after a couple of years of not winning the trophy.“So the Premier League is a big target and maybe we can become the first team to win two Champions Leagues in a row.“I think it’s a good time especially for me to give something back to the fans.”Meanwhile, Hazard can’t wait to get his Champions League campaign started. The Belgium international, 21, who has been in sizzling form since his £32m move from Lille, said: “It’s a competition that gets everyone dreaming.“It was good experience last season with Lille before we went out in the group stages. I hope to do better in it this time around with Chelsea.”Having the opportunity to join the European champions helped Hazard to choose Stamford Bridge ahead of a host of other clubs after his services. And he knows that the rest will be gunning for them now.“It will be complicated, as now Chelsea are the team to beat,” said Hazard.“The goal is to win the Champions League every year but we know it is difficult to win it twice in a row.”He is still adjusting to life in England after a flying start which has seen him provide four assists, win two penalties and score one goal.“It’s totally different here,” he said. “With Lille, we could have gone to the south of France and people wouldn't have recognized us.“But at Chelsea, the players are at another level. It is up to me to adapt.”
