Chelsea Turn their Sights on Lewandowski as Cavani Bid Rejects

Chelsea have entered the race for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, with top target Edinson Cavani looking increasingly likely to snub the Blues’ advances. Lewandowski, who scored four goals as Dortmund pulled off a surprise Champions League semi-final victory over Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid, is wanted by a host of clubs across Europe, including Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern Munich. But Dortmund have no intention of allowing the Polish international to follow Mario Gotze to the Allianz Arena and the delay in Lewandowski sealing a deal elsewhere could allow Chelsea into the fray.Returning Chelsea boss Mourinho is on the hunt for a leading striker, with the Portuguese unconvinced over duo Fernando Torres and Demba Ba, both of whom could leave Stamford Bridge this summer.he Europa League champions had originally placed Radamel Falcao at the top of their hit list, but his £50m move to Monaco saw the Blues turn to Napoli frontman Edinson Cavani. However, it looks as though the Uruguayan is considering his options, with Manchester City also on the hunt. Mourinho’s admiration of Lewandowski could yet see the Blues ditch their interest in Cavani to secure a new striker before the players return for pre-season training next month.
