2011/2012 SERIE A Champions: Juventus

Juventus Won it's 28th League title and first in nine years after defeating Cagliari 2-0 to stay unbeaten and second-place AC Milan lost 4-2 to Inter Milan in the next-to-last round of the season today. It is Juventus' first league championship since 2003, with its two titles since then being revoked because of match-fixing. The team is four points ahead of Milan.Mirko Vucinic gave Juventus the lead in the sixth minute and an own goal by Michele Canini sealed the result.Defending champion Milan had the chance to take the title race to the last round of the season but a hat trick from Diego Milito including two penalties and a stunning goal by Maicon gave Inter victory in a thrilling and contentious derby match.Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a double for Milan. It will be the first time since 2004 that the former Ajax, Juventus, Inter and Barcelona striker won't be in the team with the most league points.Juventus took an early lead with its first real chance. Leonardo Bonucci sent a long ball over the top of the defence, and Vucinic beat the offside trap to race clear and slot the ball home between goalkeeper Michael Agazzi's legs. There was bad news for Juventus when Stephan Lichtsteiner was taken off on a stretcher while wearing a neck brace after a clash of heads with Cagliari strike Mauricio Pinilla. Lichtsteiner was taken to a hospital.Cagliari had a rare chance 10 minutes before halftime when Pinilla's fierce strike from 40 yards scraped past the outside of the post.Juve made sure of the result in the 74th minute, Martin Caceres crossing into the area and Canini slicing the ball horribly over his own goalkeeper and into the back of the net.As news filtered through of Inter's fourth goal three minutes from time, the celebrations began in earnest in Trieste.Milan needed to win to keep its title chances alive but Inter took the lead when Walter Samuel found Milito, who slotted the ball into the bottom left corner. It was almost worse for Milan six minutes later when Inter playmaker Wesley Sneijder's strike was parried by goalkeeper Christian Abbiati and Lucio fired home the rebound. The attempt was rightly ruled out for offside.Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso thought he had scored shortly after the half hour, however Abbiati stopped the header and referee Nicola Rizzoli judged that the ball hadn't crossed the line. Replays appeared to show otherwise. There was further controversy minutes before halftime when Rizzoli awarded a penalty to Milan after Julio Cesar had brought down Kevin-Prince Boateng, even though the Inter goalkeeper had clearly reached the ball first.Julio Cesar tried to put off Ibrahimovic, even walking right up to his former teammate to say something before sticking his tongue out. However, it was to no avail as Ibrahimovic tucked away his 27th goal of the season and his 10th penalty. It took Ibrahimovic just 30 seconds of the second half to double his tally, bursting between Maicon and Lucio before shooting into the bottom left corner.Inter felt hard done by again when Cambiasso was denied a penalty after he appeared to have been bundled down by Sulley Muntari and Mario Yepes. Moments later, the team received a spot kick following a moment of madness from Ignazio Abate, who hauled down Milito. The Argentine leveled from the spot.Inter was awarded another penalty 11 minutes from time after Alessandro Nesta handled in the area. Milan thought the handball was accidental but Rizzoli waved away the protests and Milito completed his hat trick.Maicon sealed the result and Milan's fate with a long-range effort that flew in just underneath the crossbar.Meanwhile, in the race for third place, Udinese is now in pole position to claim Italy's last Champions League place after it beat nine-man Genoa 2-0 and Napoli lost by the same score at Bologna.Antonio di Natale and Antonio Floro Flores scored for Udinese, which played more than 50 minutes with a two-man advantage after Juraj Kucka and Rodrigo Palacio were dismissed for Genoa.Lazio also has an outside chance of reaching Europe's elite after beating Atalanta 2-0 to close to within two points of Udinese.Elsewhere, Palermo and Chievo Verona both let two-goal advantages slip to draw 4-4. In a meaningless match between two sides already relegated, Novara beat Cesena 3-0.In the early game, Sebastian Giovinco's stunning long-range strike helped Parma to a 2-0 win at Siena.

Inter Milan Wins 4-2 Against rivals

A thrilling  match came to an end as Ac Milan Lost against rivals Inter.A Diego Milito hat-trick ended AC Milan's quest for the Scudetto once and for all, as they went down 4-2 to Inter in a dramatic encounter at San Siro, to hand Juventus the 2011-12 Serie A title. Milito fired the Nerazzurri into the lead after a quarter of an hour, but Milan responded through a controversial penalty from Zlatan Ibrahimovic three minutes before the break. The Sweden international struck again barely a minute into the second half to put the Rossoneri back into the lead, but a pair of penalties from Milito swung the advantage Inter's way.Maicon rounded off an emotional victory with a spectacular effort from distance with only minutes remaining, as Juventus' concurrent win over Cagliari put the title race beyond any doubt, mathematically assuring the Bianconeri of the championship with one game to spare.Milan created the first chance of the match after 12 minutes, but it was wasted by Ibrahimovic, who fired over the bar from point-blank range following an inviting cross by Robinho. His profligacy would be punished by Inter two minutes later when they took the lead, though they were aided by some less than stellar defending from Allegri’s side.A free-kick from Wesley Sneijder was pumped into the area towards the head of Walter Samuel, who had all the time in the world to square to the unmarked Milito for a tap in.Matters became more complicated for Milan, with the injured Daniele Bonera substituted for Mattia De Sciglio, as Inter continued to press forward following their opener.Lucio saw a goal correctly disallowed for offside, but the referee was forced to work a bit harder just past half an hour, as a header by Esteban Cambiasso was clawed away by Christian Abiatti, barely an inch from crossing the goal line.Abbiati made another fine save on Sneijder soon after, but he would not last for long, and was forced off through injury for Marco Amelia on 35 minutes. The loss of their goalkeeper seemed to bring Milan out of their shell, and they began to exert more pressure on the Inter goal, with only the palms of Julio Cesar denying Ibrahimovic from close range.Controversy would rear its head three minutes before half time, as Milan were awarded a penalty after a challenge by Julio Cesar on Boateng, even though the Inter keeper clearly appeared to make contact with the ball first. The referee was not moved by Inter’s protests, though, and despite a bit of gamesmanship from Julio Cesar, Ibrahimovic was able to step up and score his 10th penalty of the season. It got even better for the Rossoneri 40 seconds into the second half, as a superb touch at the edge of the box from Ibrahimovic saw him skip past Lucio and dink past Cesar to put Milan ahead for the first time.Inter would not let them rest easy however. Sneijder almost surprised Amelia with a volley from long range, and when Ignazio Abate dragged down Milito in the area, the referee was left with little choice.Milito took the spot-kick himself, and buried it confidently past Amelia to put Inter back on terms.Milan should have soon been back in front, but somehow Sulley Muntari failed to turn home Ibrahimovic’s flick from in close.Robinho fired into Cesar’s legs, and Mario Yepes headed wide as Allegri’s men looked to have the upper hand as the second half wore on.However, they were pegged back in dramatic fashion with 10 minutes remaining, after a handball in the box by Alessandro Nesta was spotted. Milito steadied himself once more to fire home from 12 yards, and round off his personal treble - the first time a player had netted a hat-trick in the Derby della Madonnina since Jose Altafini scored four for Milan in 1960.By this point, Juventus had opened up a two goal lead over Cagliari, meaning that Milan’s title hopes were disappearing fast. There was to be no recovery for the Rosonneri, and Maicon sealed matters in the 87th minute with an ambitious strike from all of 30 yards that left Amelia rooted to the spot.Milan square off against Novara in their last game of the season, while Inter face a crucial trip to the capital to face Lazio as the race for third place enters its final lap.

Real Madrid overcome against Granada

Real Madrid Left it late as they laboured towards a 2-1 away victory against Granada to remain on course to finish the Liga campaign on 100 points.Franco Jara grabbed the opening goal of the game in the fifth minute as an under-strength and under-par Los Blancos struggled to create anything of note. However, Cristiano Ronaldo's late penalty brought Madrid back into the game before David Cortes' inexplicable own-goal during injury time sent the newly-crowned champions onto 97 points.Granada lost their discipline at the full-time whistle as Moises Hurtado and Guilherme Siqueira picked up red cards with Resino's side's survival in the Spanish top flight still in doubt. After being given a guard of honour by the home side, Madrid made a shaky start to proceedings and the Spanish giants found themselves a goal down in the fifth minute. Picking the ball up on the halfway line after dispossessing Marcelo, Jara stormed past Ricardo Carvalho into the box before coolly slipping the ball underneath Antonio Adan's legs to find the back of the net.Resino's men were nearly in wonderland two minutes later as they came mightily close to adding a second. Odion Ighalo's shot from the edge of the area was parried away by Adan before the Nigerian's rebound effort was cleared off the line by Marcelo - the Brazilian appearing in the right place at the right time to save his team further embarrassment.Despite fighting their way back into the game, Los Blancos struggled to create goalscoring opportunities and had to wait until the 36th minute to have a shot at goal. Nuri Sahin picked the ball up 25 metres from goal before unleashing a swerving drive which narrowly cleared the crossbar.Mourinho's men saw their first clear-cut chance of the match appear in the 42nd minute and Ronaldo was guilty of missing a glorious opportunity from close range. Karim Benzema held the ball up well before clipping a clever cross into the six-yard box yet his Portuguese team-mate could only screw his header wide of the target, much to the relief of Julio Cesar in the Granada goal as the home team headed into the interval 1-0 up.The 2011-12 champions started the second period brightly after Gonzalo Higuain replaced Kaka and Xabi Alonso came in for Sahin, and they came close to the equaliser on 58 minutes. Marcelo's cross-field delivery evaded the Granada defence and found Benzema on the right side of the box. The Frenchman took one touch to bring the ball under his control before smashing it towards the top corner from a narrow angle; a shot which Cesar was equal to, parrying the ball out for a corner.Seven minutes later Higuain slipped a clever through-ball into the path of Ronaldo but the former Manchester United man was faced with an angle too tight as his eventual effort was easily blocked by the goalkeeper.Madrid were handed their opportunity back into the match in the 79th minute when Moises was penalised for wrestling Ronaldo to the ground in the box, earning himself a yellow card in the process. The Portuguese attacker stepped up to take the penalty himself, slamming his spot-kick in the bottom corner sending the keeper the wrong way to bag his 45th league goal of the season.Los Blancos were to deal Granada a bitter blow when Benzema's cross into the box in injury time was turned into his own net by David Cortes to gift Mourinho's side all three points as Moises and Siqueira saw red cards after the final whistle.Real finish their championship-winning campaign at the Bernabeu next weekend against Mallorca needing a win to set a new Liga record of 100 points in a single season, while Granada visit Madrid to face Rayo Vallecano in a direct scrap for survival.

Messi's Hat trick Dedicated to Pep.G

In what was Pep Guardiola's Last Match at Camp Nou, Barcelona faced little resistance as they thrashed Espanyol 4-0 in the Catalan derby on Saturday evening.Four goals from Lionel Messi, taking his tally to 50 in this Liga campaign, was enough to ensure that bragging rights stayed with Barca once more. A superb free kick and a wonderful cross-goal shot were separated by two penalties for the Argentine, who is now almost a certainty for the Pichichi award.Emotions were running high around the stadium before kick off with every Blaugrana looking to pay homage to Barca coach Guardiola. They began the game in a typically free-flowing manner and they were ahead in the 12th minute.Messi won a free kick 25 yards from goal and got up to take it himself. From a right-of-centre position he bent the ball on goal and despite a taking a nick of Raul Baena, his effort flew just inside the post. For their part Espanyol were doing their best to keep Barcelona's passing as far away from the final third as possible and the hosts were struggling to get a sight of goal. Before the break Espanyol keeper Cristian Alvarez was forced into two vital stops to keep his side within touching distance of the hosts. First, he smothered the ball at Seydou Keita's feet as the Malian looked to round him in the area, then he got a strong hand to deny Andres Iniesta from a free kick.Barca shifted to three at the back for the second half, allowing Adriano to play further up as they looked to unlock their stubborn neighbours. The move began to reap rewards as the hosts asserted their dominance in the middle of the park. The Blaugrana were awarded a penalty in the 64th minute after a handball in the area by Cristian Gomez. Messi converted via the right-hand post to score his 70th goal in all competitions this season.Juan Forlin tested Jose Pinto with a sweetly-struck volley but soon after, Barca extended their lead and it was the imperious Messi who was on target again for his eighth La Liga hat-trick this season. The Argentine latched onto Adriano's pass and his great first touch took the ball away from Victor Sanchez and he arrowed his shot across goal and into the bottom corner. But it did not stop there. With 79 minutes on the clock the hosts were awarded another penalty when Sergio Busquets was brought down in the area. The ball was handed to Messi and he dispatched the spot-kick before going on to celebrate his 50th Liga goal with Guardiola.
The Argentine almost added a fifth in the dying moments but his dink over Alvarez dropped just the wrong side of the post. Nevertheless Guardiola will have been happy to have ended his current spell at Barcelona in front of the home fans with such an imperious display, condemning their city rivals to mid-table obscurity in the process

Sunday EPL results:

Queens Park Rangers 1-0 Stoke City

Cisse's Late 80's Goal Proved to be Crucial one. Djibril Cisse stepped off the bench to earn Queens Park Rangers a crucial victory against Stoke in their battle to stay in the Barclays Premier League.
Cisse tapped in at the back post in the 89th minute after Anton Ferdinand glanced on an Adel Taarabt corner as Mark Hughes' side moved two points clear of the relegation zone in dramatic circumstances.
Stoke striker Cameron Jerome somehow volleyed wide from six yards early on and Peter Crouch hooked off target in the closing stages as the Potters were denied a point their performance deserved.

          Aston Villa 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Aston Villa earned the point they needed to all-but ensure Barclays Premier League football for next season as they held Spurs at Villa Park.
Villa took the lead completely against the run of play in the first half, Ciaran Clark's 30-yard drive taking a deflection off William Gallas and flying into the corner of Brad Friedel's net.
Spurs wasted several chances, with Shay Given saving brilliantly from Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart volleying wide, before Danny Rose was sent off in the second half.
The visitors levelled when Sandro was felled by Richard Dunne in the Villa box and Emmanuel Adebayor rolled in from the penalty spot, and neither side was able to conjure up a winner.

          Bolton Wanderers 2-2 WBA

West Bromwich Albion hit back with two goals in the closing stages to leave Bolton Wanderers in real trouble at the foot of the table.
Bolton went ahead when Mark Davies was brought down in the box and Martin Petrov fired in from the spot, and they doubled their lead after the break when Liam Ridgewell cleared Petrov's cross against Billy Jones, the ball flying in for an own goal.
But West Brom hit back when captain Chris Brunt finished neatly inside the area and then, in the last minute, James Morrison turned in Simon Cox's cross to earn a point for the Baggies.

             Fulham 2-1 Sunderland

Fulham ended their home campaign with a typically assured performance as they saw off the challenge of Sunderland at Craven Cottage.
US midfielder Clint Dempsey curled the Cottagers ahead with a superb 25-yard free-kick, though Sunderland levelled with a rare attack when Phil Bardsley rifled in after Dong-Won Ji's lay-off.
Fulham regained the lead when Moussa Dembele's deflected shot flew in before the break, and though Fraizer Campbell missed a fine chance to level for the Black Cats late on, Fulham secured the three points to move up to eighth.

               Wolves 0-0 Everton

Already-relegated Wolves ended their home campaign with a hard-fought point against Everton in the sunshine at Molineux.
In-form striker Nikica Jelavic had a goal ruled out for offside for the Toffees in the first half, and he dragged another effort off target after the break.
Wolves created a couple of decent openings, but Stephen Hunt and Steven Fletcher both missed the target and David Edwards missed with a header, too.

  Newcastle United 0-2 Manchester City

Manchester City moved a step closer to winning their first Barclays Premier League title after Yaya Toure's brace earned them victory over Newcastle United at the Sports Direct Arena.
City went closest to scoring during an entertaining first half as David Silva and Sergio Aguero forced fine saves from Tim Krul and then Davide Santon kicked off the line from Gareth Barry.
City continued to press and Toure eventually broke the deadlock, playing a smart one-two with Aguero and curling superbly into Krul's bottom left-hand corner.
Aguero shot wide from eight yards moments later and Toure headed another fine chance off target, but he slipped past Krul late on after a quick counter-attack to wrap up the points.
City now face Queens Park Rangers at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 13th May knowing that victory will all-but guarantee them winning the League.

       Manchester United 2-0 Swansea City

Manchester United kept up the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the Barclays Premier League courtesy of an impressive victory against Swansea City at Old Trafford.
United took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Antonio Valencia pulled the ball back from the right and Michael Carrick's cross-shot was deflected in by Paul Scholes.
It was 2-0 before half-time as Ashley Young curled into the bottom corner, and United kept the visitors at bay during the second half as David de Gea saved well from Danny Graham.
United now face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday 13th May with a chance of winning their 13th Premier League title.
