Napoli Suffers Worst Nightmare

Chelsea Beat Napoli By 4-1 Agg ( 5-4 ) . Chelsea were at their Best As being Napoli's Advantage Chelsea went from Behind to Beat Napoleons. Serbian Branislav Ivanovic smashed home the winning goal in the 105th minute of an enthralling clash to keep the English flag flying in the competition after both Manchester clubs and Arsenal had fallen by the wayside.
Trailing 3-1 from the first leg, it was Chelsea's much-criticised 30 somethings who provided the inspiration having struggled domestically under recently sacked coach Andre Villas-Boas.

Didier Drogba opened the scoring and captain John Terry's header made it 2-0 just after the interval only for Napoli to regain the advantage through Gokhan Inler's low drive.

Frank Lampard's penalty 15 minutes from time made it 4-4 on aggregate to send the tie into extra time and it was the 34-year-old Drogba who again showed his class, providing the perfect cut back for Ivanovic to send Chelsea through.

Interim coach Roberto Di Matteo jumped for joy on the bench as Chelsea kept their dream of a first Champions League triumph alive and ended Napoli's hopes of reaching the last eight for the first time.

Ronaldo steers real into quarters
Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as nine-time champions Real Madrid eased into the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday, a 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow giving Jose Mourinho's men a 5-2 aggregate victory.

Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema were also on target as Real joined bitter rivals Barcelona in the last eight, the draw for which will be held on Friday. The only negative on the night for Madrid was a yellow card for Xabi Alonso that means he will miss the first leg of their quarterfinal tie.

CSKA arrived in Madrid having not lost away in the Champions League all season and they started the game looking well-organised and determined. But Madrid's quick passing increased in intensity and it was no surprise when Sami Khedira and Kaka combined on 26 minutes to set up Higuain.

On 55 minutes, Ronaldo tried his luck with a spinning shot from fully 40 yards that Chepchugov failed to block. Mourinho then changed Higuain for Benzema and the Frenchman grabbed Madrid's third within a minute of his arrival, converting an Oezil pass for his fifth goal in this season's Champions League.

Tosic scored at 77 minutes with a stunning left-footed strike from the edge of the area. But there was still time for Ronaldo to add his second in injury time.

Misbah, Akmal complete clinical win as Pakistan in Finals!

Aizaz Cheema came back well to pick up four wickets after getting pasted in his first two overs
Pakistan 189 for 3 (Misbah 72*, Akmal 77) beat Sri Lanka 188 (Sangakkara 71, Tharanga 57, Cheema 4-43) by six wickets & Qualify For Finals!

Pakistan put one foot in the final of the Asia Cup with a six-wicket win over a tired Sri Lankan outfit, which did not have enough steam to defend a modest 188. Pakistan's bowlers set up the win with a disciplined effort, and Misbah-ul-Haq and Umar Akmal compiled positive half-centuries to arrest a top-order wobble. Their eagerly anticipated clash with India on Sunday may not carry much context for them if India beat Bangladesh tomorrow, but Sri Lanka's second consecutive defeat makes an India-Pakistan final likely. The defeat left a few important questions for Sri Lanka to answer after a long, strenuous season away from home, where they have had mixed results. Their shot-selection for one, starting from the seniors at the top, has been exposed, leaving plenty for the lower middle-order to do. With Upul Tharanga scoring another half-century at No.6, it strengthens his case for being reinstated as an opener, meaning that Mahela Jayawardene would have to move back down the order. The presence of Dilshan and Jayawardene at the top was aimed at giving Sri Lanka a strong start in a must-win game. They started aggressively today, but in their quest lost quick wickets. It was an underwhelming performance from a team that bats deep but did not have the application to match their talent.Jayawardene fell trying to drive past extra cover. Dilshan, after some crunching drives through the off side, fell off a miscued pull. The wicket was nicely set up by Aizaz Cheema, who peppered him with short deliveries and challenged him to target the on side, with a fielder in the deep. Two more soft dismissals, those of the young Dinesh Chandimal and Lahiru Thirimanne, put a lot of pressure on Kumar Sangakkara and Tharanga. They suffered in the bowling Powerplay, scoring only 11 runs. Their stand of 96 featured several singles, 61 of them, and five boundaries. Tharanga was comfortable against the spinners, picking up boundaries through the off side via deft cuts. Sangakkara, who began with a clipped boundary past midwicket, pounced on a short delivery from Mohammad Hafeez to bring up the fifty stand.Sri Lanka once again succumbed to a familiar weakness - the batting Powerplay. As it happened against India, they lost their foothold in the first over of the field restrictions. Saeed Ajmal was taken off after the bowling Powerplay but Misbah brought him back at the start of the 36th over. He struck by bowling Tharanga with the doosra, before inducing a poor shot from Farveez Maharoof. Sangakkara tried to force the pace by charging Cheema but ended up dragging the ball onto the stumps. His reaction after being dismissed, swishing the air with his bat, summed up Sri Lanka's problems.Pakistan picked up the last six wickets for just 27 runs and it was largely due to Sri Lanka's inability to read Ajmal's doosra. Cheema went on to take four wickets while Ajmal took three. It was an especially satisfying display by Cheema, who got a pasting early on but backed himself to bowl fast and attack the batsmen.A timid start by Pakistan, which included the loss of three wickets, gave Sri Lanka hope of defending a modest 188. Jayawardene, maintaining a stony expression, had plenty to expect from his beefed-up bowling attack, and they responded by trying to make life tough for the top order by bowling tight lines. Some committed ground fielding, especially by Dilshan, and catching lifted the spirits of the bowlers.Jayawardene stuck to his tactic of constantly shuffling fielders in various close catching positions to create chances. The openers, Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez, started watchfully but succumbed to tame dismissals, not very different in character to their counterparts. Jamshed holed out to mid-on before Hafeez scooped the legspinner Seekkuge Prasanna to point.Younis Khan gifted Suranga Lakmal his second wicket with an exaggerated whip to Farveez Maharoof at mid-on, who timed his dive and caught the ball inches off the ground. At 33 for 3, Sri Lanka were in the game but three boundaries by Akmal off a Lasith Malinga over in the bowling Powerplay - all risk-free - calmed the nerves for Pakistan. Misbah was prepared to wait for the bad deliveries, driving Prasanna past the covers before launching him for a six over long-on.The calmness of Misbah and exuberance of Akmal combined well to ensure that Pakistan crossed the finish line before the 40th over, which gained them a bonus point. Akmal was strong behind square on the on side, sweeping the spinners and paddling them away with the fine leg up. As the target shrunk, Sri Lanka appeared to throw in the towel. The fast bowlers failed to control the scoring, as Pakistan found the gaps with ease during the batting Powerplay.Sri Lanka have a very slim chance of making the final, provided they beat Bangladesh convincingly, and India lose both their remaining games. A back-door entry, however, would not leave them satisfied.

Lamont Peterson vs Amir Khan “ready to die”

Lamont Peterson has declared himself “ready to die” in the ring to keep his belts when he meets Britain’s Amir Khan in a Las Vegas title rematch on May 19. The American, who took Khan’s WBA super-lightweight and IBF light-welterweight belts in a controversial split points decision in Washington last December, told a televised news conference on Tuesday that he was training already. Peterson said he accepted the rematch because the fans wanted it, and not because of pressure from Khan’s people or any feeling that he had to prove himself. “It seems like Team Khan still have problems over what happened in DC, I can only tell them that nothing shady happened in DC but I’m pretty sure they won’t take my word on it,” added the 27-year-old. Khan’s camp criticised referee Joseph Cooper in the first fight for docking their man two points for pushing and also questioned the presence of a ‘mystery man’ in a hat seen on television talking to a ringside judge.

Liverpool earns hat-trick

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard scored the first hat-trick in a Merseyside league derby since 1982 as his side enjoyed an emphatic 3-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League at Anfield on Tuesday.  Liverpool, who had lost their last three league matches, remained seventh in the table but moved five points ahead of their local rivals whose manager David Moyes endured a miserable evening to mark 10 years in charge of the Goodison Park club. “To beat Everton is always special and to get three goals is a bit extra but I’ve got to thank my team mates especially Luis Suarez who put two goals on a plate for me,” Gerrard told Sky Sports after playing his 400th Premier League game. “It has been a frustrating run for us, we need to find a level of consistency.” Ian Rush was the last player to score three in the derby while the previous hat-trick in the fixture at Anfield was Fred Howe’s in 1935.

Manchester City lost its top spot

Manchester City lost its top spot in the Premier League to rival Manchester United after a shock 1-0 defeat at Swansea on Sunday. Luke Moore scored with a powerful close-range header for the Welsh side in the 83rd minute as City, unbeaten in the league at home, lost its fourth away match this season. Man United beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 to move first one point ahead of City. City s Micah Richards had a goal called back for offside in the dying minutes of the game at the Liberty Stadium. Joe Hart saved a penalty from Scott Sinclair in the 7th minute after the England goalkeeper was judged to have brought down Wayne Routledge. Yaya Toure was caught in possession by Gylfi Sigurdsson and Swansea coolly put Routledge down the right to deliver a cross that Moore headed beyond Hart s despairing dive. The goal triggered all-out attack from City and Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm made an acrobatic save to deny a Kolo Toure effort.  City thought it had salvaged a point when Richards headed in as Vorm came and failed to reach a cross, but the fullback was ruled offside. Sinclair almost added a second in added time as Swansea broke after Hart had gone up for a corner, but his strike from halfway came up short of the line as the keeper recovered.

Indian Wells update

Roger Federer outlasted hard-serving Milos Raonic 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-4 in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open on Tuesday night, extending his run of winning 35 of 37 matches since last year s U.S. Open. Rafael Nadal didn t have as much trouble in beating fellow Spaniard Marcel Granollers 6-1, 6-4. It was similarly easy on the women s side for top-ranked Victoria Azarenka and No. 2-seeded Maria Sharapova, who won their matches in little more than an hour to reach the quarterfinals. Ana Ivanovic defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 6-2 in a matchup of former Indian Wells champions and former top-ranked players. Ivanovic held at love to complete her biggest win over a top player in months. Raonic came into his first match against Federer having won 16 of his previous 18 matches this year, but he fell to 0-7 against top-eight players with the loss. "I thought before the match I had a chance to win this," he said. "I did a few things well in the first set, and after that he just picked it up on the return. I don t think I served as well after, either." Federer broke to open the second set and broke again in the seventh game to level the match. In the third, he broke Raonic to go up 4-3. Raonic held at love before Federer won four straight points to close out his 73rd consecutive winagainst players outside the top 20. "I was getting to the ball often in the beginning, but just not making the plays," Federer said. "I was able to improve, and once I got that going maybe his serving also just dropped a tiny bit and gave me more opportunities on his second serves. That was a big second set for me to get momentum, particularly the first break of the second set." Federer hasn t been feeling well since he arrived, blaming sickness among his family rather than the viral illness that has knocked eight players out of the tournament. "Slow improvements," he said. "I m still not 100 percent." No. 2-ranked Nadal has won his past 10 matches against Spaniards. "I didn t play my best in the second," he said. "I had a few mistakes, especially for the backhand. But I am happy that I finished the match well." Nadal plays No. 21 Alexandr Dolgopolov in the quarterfinals. On the men s side, No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga advanced but fifth-seeded David Ferrer lost for just the second time this year, 6-4, 6-3 to Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan. Ferrer had already won three titles this season, and was seeking his 20th match win. Istomin set himself up for a fourth-round match against No. 9 Juan Martin del Potro, who defeated Fernando Verdasco 6-2, 7-6 (6). Verdasco failed to convert on six break points in the match. David Nalbandian defeated 10th-seeded Janko Tipsarevic 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, while Thomaz Bellucci advanced when Nikolay Davydenko withdrew because of illness. Azarenka, a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Julia Goerges, moved on to play fifth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska, who advanced when American wild card Jamie Hampton retired with cramping in the third set while trailing 3-6, 6-4, 3-0. Azarenka (20-0) and Radwanska (20-3) have the most match wins this year on the WTA Tour. Sharapova, who lost to Azarenka in a lopsided Australian Open final, beat Roberta Vinci 6-2, 6-1, and next plays an all-Russian quarterfinal against 20th-seeded Maria Kirilenko, who beat No. 30 Nadia Petrova 6-1, 5-7, 6-2. Azarenka next will try to equal Serena Williams  consecutive victories streak of 21-0 to begin 2003. "If I relax my butt a little bit, somebody s going to come and kick it," she said, laughing. Azarenka, who has won two other titles this year, is 3-0 against Radwanska this year, with two of their matches going to three sets. "She s someone who always comes up with something different," Azarenka said. "She s a little magician, if you can call it that." Other winners Tuesday included No. 7 Marion Bartoli; No. 8 Li Na; and 18th-seeded Angelique Kerber, who beat American Christina McHale in a third-set tiebreaker.

Tennis:World No.4 exits, Azarenka and Sharapova advance

World no.4 Caroline Wozniacki was shown door by Ana Ivanovic As Belarusian And Russain Qualified .

Top-seeded Belarusian Azarenka eased into the last eight with a ruthless 6-3, 6-1 demolition of Germany's Julia Goerges before Russia's second seed Sharapova swept past Italy's Roberta Vinci 6-2, 6-1.

Dane Wozniacki, however, was ousted by former winner Ivanovic, who produced sizzling tennis from the baseline to triumph 6-3, 6-2 in the fourth round.
Serb Ivanovic, who won the Indian Wells title in 2008, will next meet seventh seed Marion Bartoli of France after she breezed past Czech Lucie Safarova 6-1, 6-4.
In dazzling afternoon sunshine, Azarenka broke Goerges three times in each set before sealing victory with an ace to end the match in just over an hour on the showpiece stadium court.
The pony-tailed Belarusian, who won her first grand slam crown at the Australian Open in January, is 20-0 this year and will next face fifth seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.
Radwanska, who won her eighth WTA title in Doha last month, advanced when American wild card Jamie Hampton retired with cramp when trailing 6-3, 4-6, 3-0.
"I take it day by day and after that we will see what happens," Azarenka told reporters of her perfect start to the season. "I have to keep my focus on every moment, every day."The 22-year-old, who has launched her 2012 campaign with three WTA titles, said complacency was not in her vocabulary and that she always strived to improve her performance."I always try to work on different things because I think there is never really a limit to what you can achieve," Azarenka added. "You can always try to do better. It may not work right away, but at least you can start the process."
Physical condition

Asked what had been the most improved department of her game this year, she replied: "The thing that really stands out is my physical condition, and I'm pleased with that. But I feel like there is so much more room to improve."
Sharapova had needed five match points to beat Romania's Simona Halep in the previous round but stepped up a few gears against Vinci, breaking her six times before completing victory in just over an hour.
Radwanska, who reached the quarterfinals for a third time at Indian Wells, applauded Hampton's effort.
"She was playing very good today and I was really in trouble in the second set," the 23-year-old said. "She was really hitting the ball very well and moving very well.
"I just noticed when she fell down. It was obvious that she was cramping and it's always tough when you can't really have a medical timeout for that and you're losing points or games like today.
"When somebody is losing two or three games, it's really a lot. It's tough to come back."

Inter Milan Loses As Marseille's Brandao Scores An Unbelievable Last minute winner

Inter Milan 2 Marseille 1 (agg 2-2,Marseille win on away goals): Late drama

Inter Milan Were Thrashed from Marseille , Even Though They Won the match by 2-1 At San Siro

Claudio Ranieri said that We lack the Luck and thats what caused us .Inter Milan had Most possession Over Thier Opposition But couldn't quite worked it out .Diego Milito had earlier given Inter the lead 15 minutes from time and the match looked to be heading into extra-time until the eventful three minutes of injury time.
Almost everything in this last 16 tie happened in injury-time with Andre Ayew giving the French victory in the first leg three weeks ago with a last-gasp goal at the Stade Velodrome.
Inter coach Claudio Ranieri may well be searching for a new job after this defeat with his team out of contention for silverware and facing an uphill battle in the league just to qualify for Europe next season.
Ranieri Said : "This match is a picture of our season, we played better than Marseille and even tonight we had the clearer chances," he said.
"Over 180 minutes Marseille had three shots on goal but in football the team who wins is the one that scores, so well done to them.
"This year we haven't had any luck, I can't ask the team for more.
"We need to keep giving everything and we'll see what we can do in the league.
"We could have done more with that touch more luck that really seems to not want to arrive.
"We were unjustly condemned, but that's the beauty and the beast of football and you have to accept it."

They made a blistering start and only the brilliance of Mandanda kept the scores level.
Inter captain Javier Zanetti burst down the right, cutting into the box, twice dummying a cross before picking out Wesley Sneijder, via a slight deflection, seven yards out but Souleymane Diawara and Mandanda between them sprayed their bodies in front of goal and kept the ball out.
Moments later and the hosts put together another lovely move with Dejan Stankovic releasing Sneijder down the right and his fizzed cross found Milito inside the six-yard box.
The Argentine forward made an instinctive thrust with his chest to push the ball goalwards, but Mandanda again made a stunning reaction save.
That, however, was as good as it got for the rest of the half.
If Inter had gathered up a head of steam when they came out of the blocks, the wind seemed to have blown out of their sails by the second period.
They didn't create anything resembling a chance until halfway through when Stankovic fired a free-kick from 25 yards over the bar.
In fact it was Alou Diarra who came closest with a header from a Mathieu Valbuena free-kick that goalkeeper Julio Cesar did well to claw away from his left-hand post.
But 15 minutes from time master poacher Milito struck following a goalmouth scramble at a corner.
First Walter Samuel poked the ball goalwards, it fell to Pazzini but his prod was blocked by a sprawled Jeremy Morel before the ball broke to Milito to clip home with Mandanda helpless.
That spurred on the hosts and Maicon hit an inswinging free-kick that Mandanda had to tip over the bar.
Esteban Cambiasso then had a free header inside the six yard box after some hesitant defending from the French team but he failed to hit the target.
But then in injury time Mandanda launched a free-kick long, Lucio missed his header and Brandao had just enough space to shoot home before Samuel could make a saving tackle.
Mandanda, who had been booked earlier for time-wasting, then brought down Pazzini earning a second yellow card, and the forward had just enough time to score from the spot before Portuguese referee Pedro Proenca brought proceedings to a close.
