Serena Williams Won Over Vandeweghe 7-5, 6-3 Sunday for her second consecutive Bank of the West Classic title in a final tuneup before the London Olympics.Eight days after winning Wimbledon, Williams saved a set point and won the final four games of the opening set. It was the 43rd WTA Tour championship of Williams' career, tying Venus for most among active players.Williams even summoned her father, Richard, all the way from Europe for her final two matches to soak in the moment."I haven't won a tournament without him or my mom here," she said. "I just felt like I didn't want to go out (without him). Plus, he's going to be at home watching everything here anyway."The first all-American WTA final on home soil in eight years was hardly a one-sided affair.Vandeweghe, 20, who failed to make it out of qualifying and got into the main draw when Bojana Jovanovski withdrew because of an injury, moved the 14-time Grand Slam champion and her highlighter-yellow outfit all over the court to give Williams her only real challenge of the week. Vandeweghe was aiming to be only the second lucky loser to win a WTA tournament and first since Andrea Jaeger in 1980 in Las Vegas."There's happiness that I'm in the final and there's sadness that I lost," Vandeweghe said. "I just have to kind of put it on the back burner and move on."The final result remained the same for both.Williams whipped a backhand crosscourt that Vandeweghe sent sailing wide for an early break to go ahead 2-0. In what looked to be another rout by Williams, the young American showed some fight.Vandeweghe immediately broke twice in the first set — both with Williams struggling on tosses into the sunny side of the court — and ripped a 121-mph ace in her next game. But serving for the set at 5-4, Vandeweghe crumbled when she had the chance to put a dent in Williams' confidence before the London Olympics. All it took was one point.Williams walloped a soft second serve with another backhand crosscourt to save a set point. And on the sixth break chance of the game, Vandeweghe double-faulted — a theme throughout a sun-splashed afternoon in the biggest moments of the match. She finished with five double-faults and six aces. Williams didn't fare much better with nine aces and six double-faults, but she won 81% of her first-serve points and waited for her opponent to make mistakes.Vandeweghe again double-faulted to give Williams a set point at 6-5, and Williams smacked another backhand crosscourt that Vandeweghe barely got a racket on. Williams gave a light fist pump and stayed steady, just as she had for most of the last month in her latest rise up the rankings.Another double-fault by Vandeweghe on break point gave Williams a 3-1 lead in the second set. Williams served out the match and put away a final forehand winner on match point, giving another light fist pump and showing little emotion — especially compared to her hug-filled celebration with family eight days earlier on Wimbledon's grass.Fourth-ranked Williams, jet-lagged from traveling more than 5,000 miles and eight time zones from the All England Club, never looked at her dominating best at Stanford. But she did exactly what she wanted all week: just win."I definitely think I survived," she said. "I don't think I played my greatest. But I do think I was mentally there, and that helped me out a lot."Not only did she defend her points to stay on track to regain the No. 1 world ranking, she also did it on a court that will forever hold a special place in her heart. The tournament is where Williams' comeback took shape last year when she beat Marion Bartoli in the final for her first WTA title since returning from blood clots in her lungs and two foot operations that threatened her life and career for almost a year. The last player to win consecutive titles at Stanford was Kim Clijsters in 2005 and 2006. Clijsters is second behind the Williams sisters with 41 career WTA titles. The previous all-American final at home on the WTA Tour came when Lindsay Davenport topped Williams in Los Angeles in 2004.

Mark Boucher Might Take His Retirement Back
Mark Boucher The South-African Wicket Keeper Who Was Severely Injured By Imran Tahir's Googly Which Hit the Stumps And Followed To Boucher's Eyes. Mark Boucher has received "positive" news from his surgeon, Shuaib Manjra, in Cape Town, which suggests he may regain sight in his left eye after Monday's freak on-field accident in Taunton that fast-forwarded his decision to retire.Manjra told the Sunday Times that there was "no obvious detachment of the retina which is very positive." Boucher can recognise hand movements and identify the direction of light in the injured eye but will still have to undergo more exploratory surgery and months of other procedures to determine the exact severity of the damage and make a recovery. In the immediate term, Manjra, and the medical team, are still exploring the exact cause of the injury, which Boucher thinks had something to do with the ball. "He's still convinced that the ball hit him," Manjra said. "The amount of damage is not commensurate with simply a bail hitting him, unless there was a freak angle or freak speed and it hit him in a vulnerable spot. In other words, everything just went wrong for him on that day."Manjra said Boucher remained in good spirits and had continued to "ask a lot of questions because he wants to get a full picture of what happened." His recovery is being aided by his mother, Heather, and girlfriend, Carmen Lotter, who have both moved into his home in Claremont, Cape Town.It is too early to tell if Boucher will play cricket again, although there have been suggestions that he is interested in representing his franchise, Cape Cobras. Meanwhile, the South African Cricketers' Association has begun the process of assisting Boucher in claiming disability insurance.
Useless Dimitar Berbatov Can Depart Man UTD Says Sir Alex..
Dimitar Berbatov (31) Not been Used To Often Has Got The Green Light To Leave the Club with Transfer fee of £5 million.Berbatov, 31, became increasingly marginalised at Old Trafford last season, starting only three matches after the turn of the year; in total he made 12 league appearances, scoring seven goals.Berbatov has grown tired of being a bit-part player at Old Trafford, with Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck all ahead of him among United's striking options, and now he wants the club to stick to their promise of asking for no more than £5 million."The truth is I love this club, but I am not going to be useful to anyone if I am not playing," Berbatov wrote on his Facebook page. "And I want to play, I want to help, but for unknown reasons it's not going to happen, or my chances will be limited, so it's better for everyone if we say goodbye."If not, I am professional and I will keep doing everything I can to help my team and my team-mates, whenever I have opportunity to do so. I am tired of speculation. I read the papers and I see they say £10 million is my price. I go and talk with Sir Alex, and he says to me £5 million, So who is telling the truth, what do you think?"Ferguson last offered comment on Berbatov at the start of July, when he revealed he expects the forward to be among the travelling party for United's pre-season tour."I don't think I treated Dimitar unfairly but he can feel disappointed that he didn't get more football," Ferguson told MUTV. "He's a fantastic footballer. It wasn't a great season for him last season, partly because I settled more with Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck... and Chicharito [Hernandez]."He's a fantastic talent. Nothing has happened with Dimitar and he'll join the tour to South Africa and China."

Rafael Nadal Knee Problem Scaring Him At Upcoming Olympics
Rafael Nadal World No.3 Who Was Knocked Out In the 2ND Round Of Wimbledon By Lukas Rosol Has Been Struggling Through undergoing rehabilitation on a persistent knee problem.Nadal, who has been chosen to carry the Spanish flag at the opening ceremony,is concerned he will not be fully fit for the defence of his Olympic title at London 2012.He will return to the All England Club later this month as he bids to become the first man to defend his singles gold medal."I am doing everything possible to recover," Nadal said. "After Roland Garros I had a difficult time, but the excitement is at its maximum, I am working as hard as I can and hopefully I will be at 100 per cent."I am the one who is most worried. I hope that things improve and my intention is to arrive in London well prepared and recuperated. It is for this that I work every day. Carrying the flag will the something unforgettable and I hope that Spain continue on the path of success it has been on for the past few years."Nadal, who won Wimbledon in 2008 and 2010, insists his surprise defeat to Rosol has not dented his confidence on grass."Opponents intimidate everyone, you can't hide when you are competing against the best," he said. "You go onto court knowing that you can win or lose. You have to accept both things. I have already had years of competing and I know that there are bad moments and defeats."Despite enjoying a record-breaking career, Nadal's rival Roger Federer has never won Olympic singles gold, and Nadal admits there is an element of luck involved in winning what he believes to be the hardest title. He said: "This is the hardest title to win because in the career of a tennis player you only get two or three opportunities. I feel very fortunate to have been as I was that week in Beijing. I had the luck to arrive at almost an impeccable moment."

The seventh game was hard fought with Robson prevailing on serve but, after her opponent held, it was the Czech who broke for 5-4. Spain's Luis Leon Sanchez Wins 14TH Stage Of Tour De France
Spain's Luis Leon Sanchez Wins 14TH Stage Of Tour De France.Luis Leon Sanchez of Spain used his time trial experience to claim a solo victory in the 14th stage of the Tour de France while Bradley Wiggins retained the yellow jersey as the three-week race entered the Pyrenees on Sunday.Sanchez was among a group of five riders who broke away on the final ascent of the day, the Mur de Peguere. He then made his decisive move 11 kilometres (7 miles) from the finish to claim his fourth Tour stage win. Green jersey holder Peter Sagan of Slovakia finished second, 47 seconds behind Sanchez. Frenchman Sandy Casar was third in the same time.“With Philippe Gilbert and Sagan in the breakaway, I knew that my only chance was to try my luck on my own from far away,” said Sanchez, the Spain time trial champion.Wiggins and all other contenders crossed the finish line more than 18 minutes behind Sanchez.Wiggins, however, retained the race lead as the breakaway riders were lagging well behind in the overall standings.Wiggins, bidding to become the first British rider to win the Tour, leads Sky teammate Christopher Froome by 2 minutes, 5 seconds overall. Vincenzo Nibali of Italy is third, 2:23 off the pace.At least 30 riders suffered punctures during the stage after someone in the crowd of spectators apparently threw tacks on the road near the summit of the final climb of the day, about 40 kilometres (25 miles) from the finish.Defending Tour champion Cadel Evans was among the riders who sustained a puncture at the top of the climb. The Australian rider had to wait nearly two minutes before one of his teammates got there and gave Evans his rear wheel as a replacement.Wiggins didn’t attempt to use Evans’ misfortune to his advantage and asked the peloton to slow down to allow the defending champion to return to the pack.Sanchez, who was hampered by a wrist injury during the first week of the race, crossed himself and pointed his fingers toward the sky as he went over the finish line.Sagan and two other riders managed to escape from the peloton after 35 kilometres (22 miles) during the descent after the first climb of the day, the second-category col du Portel. The 5.3-kilometre (3.3-mile) ascent split the bunch in two as RadioShack stars Andreas Kloden and Frank Schleck were dropped along with a group of about 60 riders. With Orica-GreenEdge cyclists organizing the chase in order to keep their sprinter Matt Goss in contention for the green jersey, Sagan, Sergio Paulinho and Steven Kruiswijk struggled to build their lead. But eight riders including Gilbert, Casar and Sanchez broke away in pursuit of Sagan’s trio and bridged the gap while the second peloton caught up with the yellow jersey’s group. With none of the 11 escapees posing a threat in the overall standings, they were given the freedom to continue and established a 10-minute lead at the 72-kilometre (45-mile) mark. The peloton’s deficit was more than 14 minutes at the foot of the first-category Port de Lers, a climb with an average gradient of 7 per cent.Despite the rain coming down on the climb and a drop in temperature, the ascent was uneventful as Wiggins’ teammates set the tempo at the front of the pack while the Briton’s rivals did not dare a move. When Paulinho led the breakaway group over the summit, they were still 14 minutes ahead of the peloton. After a tricky and challenging descent on slippery roads, they increased the lead to 15 minutes before the final ascent of the day – the Mur de Peguere – a punishing climb with gradients as high as 18 per cent on some sections.Sanchez stayed on the wheel of Rabobank teammate Kruiswijk during the first few kilometres of the ascent before accelerating on the steepest part. That knocked a few riders out of the leading group, with Casar, Gilbert, Sagan and Gorka Izaguirre the only ones able to stand the pace.Evans tried to break away from the main pack in the Mur de Peguere but his attack lacked punch as Wiggins and Nibali responded immediately. Wiggins’ teammates Froome and Richie Porte then moved in front of the peloton to re-establish control.

Hulk Slams Rumours As He Remains At Porto For Next Season
Hulk, The FC Porto Star ( Brazilian ) Has Stated That He will not Join Chelsea Deciding To Stay At Current Club.Chelsea transfer target Hulk has slammed any prospect of him making a move to Stamford Bridge over the summer transfer window stating that he will remain with his current club next season. The Porto striker denied he will be moving to Chelsea, despite being a long-term target for the club."I have done nothing with Chelsea or any other club. I have four more years left on my contract with Porto and I'm focussing on the national team [at the London Olympics].""I haven't talked to anyone. As everyone knows, I don't follow negotiations closely as that will make me lose my focus. I let my agent deal with that stuff..."Porto FC president Pinto da Costa also denied that his star striker will be leaving the club, stating that:"For other players, there have been some approaches. Until now, nothing has arrived for Hulk..."The news comes as a bitter blow for Chelsea, who were believed to have secured the services of the Brazilian international for next season almost two months ago. Several media outlets reported that Hulk had signed with the Blues for a substantial fee—only to be proven wrong with the latest news. After being so close to a deal with Hulk, the champions of Europe will now have to look elsewhere if they want another big-name striker to add to their squad. The Londoners have already picked up Marko Marin and Eden Hazard, and are believed to be close to announcing the signing of Brazilian sensation Oscar for next season also. But after thinking that Hulk was a done deal, the news that he will not be making a move over the summer transfer window is no doubt frustrating for Chelsea and for the fans that had assumed the 25-year-old was on his way to Stamford Bridge.
