Dalian Aerbin Signs Barcelona's Keita
Seydou Keita Has Announced That He Has Joined The Chinese Club Dalian Aerbin.Mali midfielder Seydou Keita has left Barcelona after a trophy-laden spell during his four years at the club."Seydou Keita has announced tonight he will not continue with the club next season," Barca said on Saturday."Barcelona thanks Seydou Keita for his contribution over the past few years and wishes him more professional and personal success in the future."Keita, who won 14 trophies during his time with Barca, has left to sign a deal with Chinese side Dalian Aerbin. The Chinese Super League club say that Keita has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal and that he will join them on 16 July. The move continues a recent trend for a handful of African footballers, with Didier Drogba, Frederic Kanoute and Yakubu Aiyegbeni all joining Chinese Super League clubs in recent weeks.Keita, 32, joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2008 and was the first signing of Pep Guardiola, who had just taken over as coach.Spanish media report that Keita had a clause in his contract, which had been due to expire in 2014, allowing him to leave on a free transfer if he did not start at least half of last season's games.Guardiola used the Malian almost exclusively as a substitute and the player helped Barca win three Spanish leagues, two Champions Leagues and two King's Cups among other trophies. The coach stepped down at the close of the season with assistant Tito Vilanova replacing him.The Mali international previously played for French clubs Marseille, Lorient and Lens before moving to Spain where he played for Seville for one season.
Brendan Rodgers: Andy Carroll Must Be At His Best,Otherwise Be Loaned
Liverpool Manager Brendan Rodgers Insists That Andy Carroll Must perform At His Best if he wants To Establish Himself Other-wise He Could Go Out For Loan.Rodgers, as revealed by Telegraph Sport last week, wants Roma striker Fabio Borini, a deal which will intensify competition for places at Anfield. The Liverpool manager, who has built his reputation on short-passing, fast-moving football, will use pre-season to assess whether Carroll, an old-fashioned ‘battering ram’ centre forward, fits in to his plans.Rodgers said: “Time will tell for him and all the players whether they are in my plans, but my job is to assess that. Like every player, there are certain styles and systems which will allow them to flourish.“He’s no different to any player we have here, they might have all the attributes but not the mentality to play. He’s a good kid, a good lad, so we will just see how the formation of the group shapes up.”Asked about the option of loaning Carroll out, Rodgers said: “It’s something I would have to look at, I have to be honest.“Is it going to be beneficial for the club, that’s the most important thing? Sometimes a player going out on loan in general, not just Andy can benefit the club in the long term.“It gets them game experience, and they come back a better player, a more confident one. Certainly more so than if they’ve been sitting on the bench for the majority of the season.“Andy’s always going to be linked with clubs, whether he was here or not. I have spoken to him on his holidays, he knows exactly where he stands, but I have had no enquiries about him.”In addition to his bid for Borini, Rodgers promised another “exciting” signing was imminent. “We have only made three or four enquiries about players and hopefully can close out one deal this week which will be a really exciting one for the club, one the supporters will absolutely love."
Ryan Giggs Get A opportunity To Captain GB At Olympics
Ryan Giggs Will Captain GB At Olympics as, Manchester United's Ryan Giggs says captaining Team GB is an "equal honour" to skippering the Red Devils and Wales. Two Champions League triumphs, 12 league titles and four times an FA Cup winner – Ryan Giggs has a bigger trophy cabinet than most clubs. But, he claims, captaining Great Britain in their first Olympic campaign in 52 years is right up there in his sizable list of achievements.Team GB goalkeeper Jack Butland wasn’t even born when Giggs made his debut at Old Trafford but Stuart Pearce claimed the decision to appoint the 38-year old Manchester United midfielder was the ‘easiest of his career’.“It’s as equal an honour as captaining Manchester United and Wales,” insisted Giggs.“It’s just tremendous to captain Great Britain in an Olympics on home turf. It’s an incredible honour and one that I’m looking forward to so much and couldn’t let pass by.“It’s just an experience that I never thought would happen, especially since retiring from Wales, and that will always be a disappointment in my career – that I didn’t manage to get to a tournament with Wales.”Sir Alex Ferguson has been less than complimentary about impact of Olympic football on an already crowded schedule, with the men’s gold medal match scheduled for August 11 at Wembley, one week before United’s Premier League opener at Goodison. But Giggs insisted there was never any doubt he would be involved once he got the call-up from Pearce.“Sir Alex has supported me right from the start,” he added.“He’s wanted me to be involved and I’m really thankful for that. He wants us to do well and he wants me to do well, both personally and the team. I’ve got the full backing of the boss.”Team GB side will spend the next week training before a behind-closed-doors match with Mexico and a friendly with gold medal favourites Brazil at Middlesbrough’s Riverside on July 20, which should be an interesting indication of their Olympic intent.Brazil have named a strong London 2012 squad filled with attacking stars including Santos striker Neymar, who has previously been linked to Manchester United, Porto’s Hulk and AC Milan’s Alexandre Pato.“I’ve not seen much of Neymar, but the Brazilian lads at our place rave on about him,” added Giggs.“I’ve seen clips and they’re looking at him as the man to light up Rio at the next World Cup. Brazil, Spain and Uruguay have all picked marquee players and these teams are obviously taking it very seriously and want to win it, just like us.“It’s like a mini-World Cup, with the players involved in this one, and the likes of Messi and Ronaldo in the past. It’s obviously an experience that a lot of players have loved and it’s obviously an even better experience if you win it.”Giggs and the 18-strong squad, 15 of which are under the age of 23, spent time on Sunday collecting their Olympic kit from Team GB’s preparation camp in Loughborough. It’s an experience that leaves even established Olympians wide-eyed, although millionaire footballers are a little more accustomed to being given enough free stuff to fill a small sports shop three times over. While they were formally joining Team GB, David Beckham, overlooked for selection, was down in London, cheering on friend Andy Murray in the Wimbledon final at the All England Club. But Giggs, a close friend of Beckham, is determined the talk should now stop being about who is not there and focus on who is.“Stuart Pearce is like all of us – he wants to win and he’s picked the best players available to do that,” he insisted.“Only time will tell if he is correct. There’s a lot of talented players in the squad and a lot of experience with the three over-age players, but even with the younger players, it’s a strong team.”
Terry in Trouble as he 'racially abused Anton Ferdinand'
Chelsea captain and England defender John Terry racially abused rival footballer Anton Ferdinand in response to taunts about his alleged affair with a teammate’s girlfriend, a court heard Monday.Terry was charged with a racially aggravated public order offence following the emergence of video footage appearing to show him abusing the Queens Park Rangers defender Ferdinand during a Premier League match last October. The 31-year-old Chelsea captain allegedly called Ferdinand — the brother of Terry’s England colleague Rio Ferdinand — a “f****** black c***”, Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London heard as the trial opened. He also allegedly told Ferdinand, who is mixed race, to “f*** off” and called him a “f****** knobhead” as the pair exchanged insults.“When someone brings your colour into it, it takes it to another level and it’s very hurtful,” Ferdinand, 27, told the court as he gave evidence. The QPR player said he did not initially believe that any racist terms had been used. After the match Ferdinand’s girlfriend showed him a YouTube clip of the altercation which convinced him that racist language had been used, he told the court. He added that if he had realised at the time what had been said, he “probably would have let the officials know what happened and dealt with it after the game.”If found guilty, Terry could be fined up to £2,500 (3,150 euros, $3,850), although the damage to the player’s lucrative commercial deals would likely be far greater.Prosecutor Duncan Penny said Terry’s words “demonstrated hostility based on Ferdinand’s membership or presumed membership of a racial group”.The insult was made “most probably in response to physical gestures being made by Ferdinand which the defendant understood to refer to the well-publicised allegation of an extra-marital affair with a teammate’s girlfriend,” Penny said.Allegations emerged in 2010 that Terry, who is married, had an affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the former girlfriend of his England teammate Wayne Bridge, who was also formerly at Chelsea.Terry maintains that he was only sarcastically repeating words that Ferdinand wrongly thought he had said earlier, the court heard.A few supporters outside shouted “Good luck, John!” to Terry as he arrived at court, wearing a grey suit and pink tie. He did not speak to reporters. At an earlier hearing Terry’s lawyers had entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. In a statement made to police last November, Terry said he was offended by the accusation that he had used racist language.“Whilst footballers are used to industrial language, using racist terms is completely unacceptable whatever (the) situation,” he told police.“I have never been accused of something like that and I did not take his remark lightly at all, and took strong offence to his suggestion.”His trial was delayed until after the Euro 2012 championships after a judge heard that a number of other Chelsea players would be unable to appear as witnesses until the end of the football season.Terry was stripped of the England captaincy by the English Football Association in February as a result of the racial abuse allegations. Fabio Capello resigned as England coach following that decision. The case also caused friction when Terry was selected for the Euro 2012 squad last month but Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was left out.The trial is expected to last five days.
