England Wins 3 Test Match Series By 2-0 As Final Test Draws

There had never been any prospect of play on the final day 

England Cricket Team Has won The Test Series Against The West-Indian By 2-0. The Edgbaston Test met a watery end as the final day was washed out, leaving England 2-0 winners against West Indies in the three-Test series.Umpires Tony Hill and Kumar Dharmasena, who were widely criticised for taking the players off for bad light on Sunday, delayed the abandonment until 3.00pm as persistent rain fell upon Birmingham once more and any prospects of play seemed minimal. England were 221 for 5 in reply to West Indies' 426,Only 187.3 overs were possible in the Test which also lost its first two days to rain, the first time this had happened in a Test in England since 1964.England and West Indies will now contest three one-day internationals in the NatWest Series as well as a Twenty20 international, starting at West End on Saturday. Further unsettled weather is forecast for the rest of the month.The West Indies will hope for better luck with the weather in their sole warm-up against Middlesex at Lord's on Wednesday which is set to mark the return of Chris Gayle.

Balotelli Agent Criticises Platini

Mario Balotelli's Agent Mino Raiola Has Criticised Uefa President Platini  over his stance on racism, reiterating the Italy striker’s desire to walk from the pitch if racially abused at Euro 2012.Balotelli was reportedly the target of racial abuse during Italy’s 1-1 draw with Spain in their tournament opener in Gdansk. In the aftermath, Balotelli’s agent, Mino Raiola, hit out at Platini’s declaration that any player who leaves the field of play in protest will receive a yellow card."I have to say that the reaction of UEFA to what Mario said was very strange and I would have expected a different reaction," Raiola said. "Mario has had this problem before and in Italy we have a saying: ‘racism is ignorance’."Mario is the kind of lad where this kind of abuse glides off his back. But I was very disappointed with what Michel Platini said and a lot of people are with me on that. I can't say I'm surprised by the reaction, though. I don't believe Platini has done anything to improve the game or help the position of players - as his reaction to Mario shows."The Italian Football Federation will not make an official complaint to UEFA about the alleged monkey chants from Spain's fans. British camera crews heard the abuse from the sideline, and Raiola praised the no-tolerance attitude toward on-field racism in England."I have had some meetings with the English FA about dealing with racism and the FA have been very proactive,” Raiola said. “They are ahead of other countries in Europe."Balotelli was replaced by Antonio Di Natale during the draw after missing a gilt-edged opportunity when one-on-one with Iker Casillas. Italian federation president, Giancarlo Abete, backed Balotelli to respond in positive fashion when Italy take on Croatia this Friday."Balotelli made his contribution but he must try to understand the reality of playing in a major international competition in which there is no forgiveness," Abete told Radio Anch'io Sport. "He nevertheless put the Spanish defence under pressure. Balotelli will not allow himself to be disheartened."

Group D:Ukraine beat Sweden 2-1 at Euro 2012

Andriy Shevchenko scored two second-half goals to spark Ukraine's comeback win over Sweden.
Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko made his coach look brilliant, scoring two great headers Monday to give Ukraine a 2-1 win over Sweden at the European Championship.After Zlatan Ibrahimovic had given Sweden the lead in the 52nd minute, Shevchenko responded by heading in the equalizer just three minutes later and then added the winner in the 61st.The victory gives Ukraine a serious chance of advancing from Group D after England and France drew 1-1, while Sweden faces an uphill battle to remain in the tournament."We showed today our character, our good football," Shevchenko said. "We have very good chances to qualify."Shevchenko is already a national icon in Ukraine and carried the hopes of the team going into the tournament. In front of sea of yellow and blue in the packed Olympic Stadium, he certainly didn't disappoint. He rewarded the faith coach Oleg Blokhin showed in the veteran who was not a certain starter for the tournament.Showing flashes of the scorer's instinct that once made him one of the world's top strikers, Shevchenko beat Olof Mellberg to a cross for his first goal and then met a corner to head the ball inside the near post for the second.That set off shouts of "Sheva" that could reverberate throughout the nation for a long time."Every game for us is like a final," Shevchenko said. "We showed great football tonight."These days it's Ibrahimovic who is considered a world-class forward, but AC Milan's current star came up short against its former standout forward.Ibrahimovic did provide the focal point of the Swedish attack and shaved the post with a header in the first half before putting his team ahead.Kim Kallstrom collected a long cross at the left side of the penalty area and sent it to Ibrahimovic in front of the net. The Sweden striker calmly slotted the ball past Andriy Pyatov and into the net.But Sweden seemed to relax after that and Shevchenko took advantage by meeting Oleh Gusev's cross and sending his header past Andreas Isaksson.That made the home crowd erupt and the noise grew even louder six minutes later as the 35-year-old Shevchenko's header from a corner found its way past defender Mikael Lustig at the near post. That sent Blokhin jumping up and down the sideline and waving his hand frenetically.Ibrahimovic had one good chance to equalize, but his hard, swerving shot was saved by Pyatov. Substitute Johan Elmander and Mellberg both shot high in the final minutes.Shevchenko was given a well-deserved standing ovation as was taken off in the 81st, while Ibrahimovic strode off the field immediately after the final whistle with his head down."Today it was off the post and out, the next game it will be off the post and in," Ibrahimovic said. "We have three games to play here, it's not just one game."I feel sad. We had more chances to score. There's still two games left and we still have the two games to get a result. We need to play a better game than we did today."We can't really lose the lead like we did."

Group D:England draw against France 1-1 at Euro 2012

England have claimed a well-earned point in their opening match.

England and France battled to a 1-1 stalemate in their opening Euro 2012 Group D match after Joleon Lescott's opener for England was cancelled out by Samir Nasri.The match, played in warm humid conditions at a less than full Donbass Arena, saw England defend resolutely against a more inventive French side who are now unbeaten in 22 matches."I have to be happy with the result. We kept them at bay and there were not many situations where I was panicking," England manager Roy Hodgson said. "We played well against a top team that ask questions when coming up against you."France midfielder Alou Diarra added: "Given the possession we had, we have regrets. There is a bit of disappointment, I admit it. It's a shame because there was room for a win tonight."England made the breakthrough after 30 minutes when Lescott scored his first goal for his country, powerfully heading home a whipped Steven Gerrard free kick that left France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris floundering.England only stayed ahead for nine minutes, though, before Lescott's Manchester City team mate Nasri fired an equaliser past another club colleague in England goalkeeper Joe Hart.Nasri beat Hart at the near post with a superbly struck shot from outside the penalty area, shortly after the keeper had made a brilliant reflex save from Alou Diarra's thundering header.Hodgson, in charge for only six weeks, gambled on a bold lineup with teenager Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain called up for only his third appearance.Although the 18-year-old made some surging runs, his lack of a final product left England with just three attempts on goal to France's 19."Oxlade-Chamberlain did quite well, he was dangerous," Hodgson said. "He has to be happy with his performance but it was a great team performance. Everyone did their best to keep us in the game."England should have taken the lead in the 15th minute when James Milner rounded Lloris after a neat through ball from Ashley Young, but he fired into the side netting.France dominated possession and looked sharper in attack than the English who defended well but far too deeply, allowing the French lots of room to manoeuvre.Yohan Cabaye, Franck Ribery and Benzema all went close for France but could not find a second goal."France showed they have fantastic players, but we are satisfied with the performance," England captain Steven Gerrard said. "I always said, no matter what the result, we don't get carried away with it. We now need four points from our next two games."
