Friendly Matches: MLS All Stars Earns Victory over European Championship Winners, While Liverpool Loses Against AS Roma

MLS All Stars 3-2 Chelsea
Chelsea Suffered 3-2 Defeat over MLS All stars as John Terry and Frank Lampard scored at PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.Terry and Lampard's goals had put the Champions League winners 2-1 ahead in the second half but the MLS All Stars hit back to draw level before snatching a late winner.Chris Wondolowski, Chris Pontius and Eddie Johnson scored for an All Stars side which featured David Beckham and Thierry Henry.San Jose Earthquakes forward Wondolowski opened the scoring with a shot after 21 minutes but Terry levelled things up with a header from Lampard's corner just after the half hour mark.Chelsea, who played summer signings Eden Hazard and Marko Marin, went ahead when Lampard shot home from close range after 58 minutes.DC United's Pontius equalised with 17 minutes to go and Johnson, of Seattle Sounders, won the game with a goal in injury time.

AS Roma 2-1 Liverpool

Charlie Adam scored what proved to be a consolation as Liverpool lost 2-1 to Roma in a pre-season friendly at Fenway Park in Boston.The Reds, playing at the home of the Boston Red Sox who like Liverpool are owned by the Fenway Sports Group, gave a start to young forward Raheem Sterling.Goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi twice denied Roma's Pablo Osvaldo in the opening 20 minutes.With just over half an hour gone Alberto Aquilani set up Joe Cole but his lob landed on the top of the bar.United States international Michael Bradley drove post half-time substitute Brad Jones from a tight angle to open the scoring after 63 minutes.Alessandro Florenzi doubled Roma's lead with 20 minutes remaining.Adam drove low into the bottom corner of the goal from the edge of the area with 10 minutes to go but Liverpool were unable to find an equaliser.
