FA Cup Results: Walters Strikes at the Right End as Stoke Go Through; Sunderland, West Brom Crash Out


Jonathan Walters made sure he scored at the right end this time, netting a brace to help Stoke get past a dogged Crystal Palace side 4-1 in the FA Cup third round replay, while West Brom and Sunderland crashed out to Queens Park Rangers and Bolton respectively.Walters, who scored two own goals against Chelsea at the weekend, was the man of the moment for Stoke in the FA Cup replay, scoring the two vital goals in extra time, after Glenn Murray had forced the game past 90 minutes with a late strike.Cameron Jerome added the gloss in the final minute of the 120, with Kenwyne Jones netting for Stoke in normal time midway through the second half.Palace will feel a little aggrieved not to have advanced to the next round, having missed a penalty in the first half through Jermaine Easter, after the much-wanted Wilfried Zaha had earned his side the spotkick at the Britannia Stadium.A disappointing Sunderland side fell to Championship club Bolton 2-0, thanks to two goals from Marvin Sordell.Jay Bothroyd fired English Premier League strugglers QPR into the fourth round with the only goal in the 75th minute in a 1-0 win over fellow top-flight side West Brom. QPR are set to make a couple of big signings with Loic Remy and Yann M'Vila expected to sign for the London side imminently.Fulham stayed alive in the FA Cup by the skin of their teeth, with Kieran Richardson scoring the equalizer in added time, after Nathan Defouneso's strike in the 82nd minute had seemingly sent Blackpool on their way. Brede Hangeland completed the comeback with the winner four minutes before the end of extra time.Wigan were made to work hard by Bournemouth, with Marco Boselli's strike sending Roberto Martinez's men through. Leeds setup an intriguing clash with Tottenham in round four, after beating Birmingham City 2-1, with former Liverpool forward El-Hadji Diouf scoring the all-important winner from the penalty spot.
